Well now, I know only two pronunciations for cinquains and these are sink-ains or sank-ains. Because I wasn’t sure when I first came across them, how to pronounce the word I checked both English and American Dictionaries. Can’t find sink-wane anywhere. My readings on "Cinquain" have discovered several types of cinquains [ We've been playing with the 'traditional' type. ] but I have yet to find any place that tells me how to pronounce "cinquain."  I know 'cinq' is pronounced approximately 'sank' from the French to the English, but since this is sort of an American haiku, and they've added a 'u' before the 'ain,' it just sort of follows that they'd have pronounced it 'kwain' -- not that I care much, mind you! And I'd be glad to have you give a link to a dictionary that HAS the word, since I've yet to find one myself.  Thank ye!  dunce.gif

Now... while we're talking about following instructions ( which, honestly, I try to do... at least until I find ways to interestingly break them! ), I've shared with many of my writing friends that though I'd been called "Dan" for years, since about 7 years ago, after in important crisis in my life, and recognizing that "Dan" mean "Judge" [ from the Hebrew ], and since I wish not to be one, I'd best be known as "Daniel" which means "God is my Judge." And of course I know that a word to the wise is sufficient, right?

I ode you that explanation.

P.S. Just so's ya know; I meant the 'sauced' to be ambiguous, of course, but it's the veggies that are in the sauce, not I!  I'm a t-totaller, actually -- even though I've worked for about 30 years with persons struggling with addictions.

No, I realise that. I was referring to a previous post here, where Daniel was querying where to find the dictionary on MM with regard to the pronunciation of  'Cinquain'. See our posts above smart.gif
