Well now, I know only two pronunciations for cinquains and these are sink-ains or sank-ains. Because I wasn’t sure when I first came across them, how to pronounce the word I checked both English and American Dictionaries. Can’t find sink-wane anywhere.

Oh ode To sun and moon. Sun may sink, moon may wane Heaven’s decrees must be obeyed Ours too!
Happy day to you Daniel
Grace
 Greetings, Grace!
My readings on "Cinquain" have discovered several types of cinquains [ We've been playing with the 'traditional' type. ] but I have yet to find any place that tells me how to pronounce "cinquain." I know 'cinq' is pronounced approximately 'sank' from the French to the English, but since this is sort of an American haiku, and they've added a 'u' before the 'ain,' it just sort of follows that they'd have pronounced it 'kwain' -- not that I care much, mind you! And I'd be glad to have you give a link to a dictionary that HAS the word, since I've yet to find one myself. Thank ye!
Now... while we're talking about following instructions ( which, honestly, I try to do... at least until I find ways to interestingly break them! ), I've shared with many of my writing friends that though I'd been called "Dan" for years, since about 7 years ago, after in important crisis in my life, and recognizing that "Dan" mean "Judge" [ from the Hebrew ], and since I wish not to be one, I'd best be known as "Daniel" which means "God is my Judge." And of course I know that a word to the wise is sufficient, right?
I ode you that explanation.

Merci bien, Grace
Now all I have to do is figger out where that dictionary is on this site!

© Daniel J Ricketts 17 Nov 2003 Off to work and a long drive north! Lightly, Daniel
P.S. Just so's ya know; I meant the 'sauced' to be ambiguous, of course, but it's the veggies that are in the sauce, not I! I'm a t-totaller, actually -- even though I've worked for about 30 years with persons struggling with addictions.

Disgust churns my stomach. (Okay, that is plain gross.) As I watch a cheerleader squeeze a zit.
A zit on her pale face! In the front of the bus, she peers at the cosmetic mirror with fear.
