nothing
so that you
always enjoy
what you are given
receiving it with thanks
appreciating God's grace
and provision as He promised.

for nothing
and stand in line
with other people
who are all like-minded
and believe that they deserve
the taxpayer’s money to sit
on their hands while others look for work.

cannot remove
the lid from the jar
then ask someone stronger
if they would help you get it
and then your little sister comes
relieves the pressure and opens it

then all the head
including the hair,
working down to the joints
then affects your brain until
you buy a convertible car
to show off your age from the top down

what we have underneath
and some of us don't want to
show off that much information
about things that are that personal

three short syllables
which makes it difficult
to write a good acrostic
so this is merely a filler
until I can think of something else

by the number of beats they drum out

in my thoughts;
you know the drill:
for me it's one step
forward and a few back;
the trouble is a long grind
but before to long we will have
a hole all the way to the bottom

slacken pain thru
turning acid gut
salty but it makes gas
and causes false need-to-go;
nevertheless, the amalgam
distorts bodies until they get home

the fart is;
but only when
you make it that far;
sometimes you have to pull
off the road and turn off lights
so no one can see what goes on
while you go on the rural grassland

where you go
should be level
or else gravity
will bring a big surprise
when where you are is slanted;
take care with number one or two
because it will always roll downhill

hills
are placed
where their tops
can see all 'round
so they can be safe;
they tend to be gentle
souls in need of protection
from a rugged landscape nearby
that looks up to them, but jealously

resembles
something awful
and the scientists
who invented the stuff
said it would help my hair grow
so I applied it to my scalp
but I actually had no-gain

or no gain
it will seem plain
that any campaign
to have long hair again
would probably end in pain
so any hair that might remain
should be celebrated with champagne

will wane
but remain
affecting brain
until you obtain
something for your migraine
but in the end, you will deign
to use a shot of Novocain
and knock it out or you’ll be insane

my inner voice

sane
or not
continue
putting it out
for others to read
even if they ignore;
some day someone may drop by
who will digest something you wrote
and get back home without throwing up

spew forth poetry

up
chucking
from reading
something I write
gives me some insight
into that person’s mind
so that I may understand
the reason for such an effect;
if they read my stuff, they have no taste

tongue-tide

taste
would be
in the mouth
of the one who
had done the tasting
but alas they could not
hold it long enough to taste
so we may never know whether
it had flavor worthy of the tongue

chewing fun

tongue
in cheek
is a term
for whimsical
lighthearted humor
and if poignant enough,
leaves lumps in the reader’s throat
but another definition
could be when you’re cleaning out molars.
