Limerick, Poetic Form Exercise Options

[Larry]

If you see that they never obey
and they want to do things their own way
just say, “Go ahead, try
but when failing, don’t cry”!
Be aware of the price you might pay.

Few aware of the price they may pay;
they have phones on their ears while I pray
as they drive unawares
and discuss their affairs...
Please don't let their blue sky turn to grey!

[Larry]

Pleas don’t turn their grey skies into blue
because effort is all that will do
so don’t sit on your ass
hoping things come to pass;
impetus might be shaped like a shoe.

[JustDaniel]

Shoe-shaped impetus often won't work;
they may live out their lives as a clerk
after we kick them out.
Don't just sit there and pout;
kick their ass, though they think you're a jerk!!

[Larry]

Kicking jerks in their ass makes them think
for a moment and then they just blink
‘till the cause of the pain
ends its pause near the brain
then the jerks and your foot raise a stink.

[JustDaniel]

If the jerk in your foot starts to hurt
then it's probably time to assert
other plans for that walk;
we should have a long talk
about exercise where you are girt.

[Larry]

Exercise where you’re girt is a bout
that’s especially so if you’re stout
for the tread-mill is still
like the bike with one wheel
and the diet you’ve tried is in doubt.

[JustDaniel]

If the diet's in doubt that you're on
and you feel like you've just been a pawn
in the chess game of life
march with drum and with fife
to the last line; transform that queen swan.

[Larry]

The last queen that transformed the swan line
was Odette; made the lonely king pine
when the wicked old witch
made an avian switch
but with feathers she still looked divine.

Was it feathers she wore when she rose
up with Siegfried, my friend, or were those
simply figments of mind
and emotions entwined
with your swan song 'til you decompose?

No forgiveness needed. It was a good segue!




With your swan song you’ll decompose 'til
there is little left of you, just swill
where your skeletons float,
there’s no need of a boat;
Charon has one that pennies won’t fill.

Charon doesn't take pennies for fare;
plop an obolus down to get there
on the opposite side;
o'er the river you'll ride.
Go to Hades, I shout. Is that fair?

[Larry]

Go to Hades! I shout it’s not fair
for some people on earth have been there
long before they are dead.
Go to Heaven instead
with some folks who were willing to share.

[JustDaniel]

It's your folks who were willing to share
while you sat on your fat derriere;
good you finally learned
ere your lessons were burned
from your squandering time at the fair.

[Larry]

It’s not fair when you’re squandering time
looking at other girls. It’s a crime
that most wives never mention;
they’ll get your attention
with some things you won’t think sublime.

[JustDaniel]

If you like your ice tea mixed with lime
brought by honey in your private time
then you must keep your eyes
off the girls with supplies
that somehow make you feel in your prime.

[Larry]

In your prime somehow you’re made to feel
that there’s parts of you made out of steel
but that time is long fled
and it hangs there like lead
at line’s-end of an old fishing reel.

If the end of your old fishing reel
has no longer that sweet down-home feel
simply lay out your line
while you're lying supine
and be glad that you had a fine meal.

Aren’t you glad that you had a fine meal
fixed at home and you could eat your fill
instead of that old haunt,
a greasy restaurant;
so the missus you kiss works the grill.

yesterday; you were having a chill?
Bet that charred your old lips;
hope the ER equips
you to stop your progression downhill.
