that is correct
is what makes you perfect,
and once you are, you're a target
toward which some shoot, but others aim at
seeking to bring your ego down
even if you have none;
perhaps I'll just
practice

muddle along
while I’m trying new things
and learn new forms to utilize
until I gain a little expertise
and can write a Rictameter
without any mistakes

how’ll I
ever compete
with writers of today
who don’t worry about metrics
and fail to rhyme without any reason
which is okay if it’s free verse
but mostly, it’s free worse
and that is when
I howl

it's when
I try to write
a poem in free verse
that my mind goes berserk trying
to decide which words to use to describe
something in a sensible way
and then read other's stuff
that feels more like
it's wen

feels like
our assessment
of some writing talents
coincided with each other
so their success seems to beg the question;
have we become so out of touch
with poetry’s meaning
that we alone
feel lack

usually best
when you're having to wee
because it's intensely private
and we don't want anyone to be there
when our target is a poem
that defies our knowing
unless poet's
a loan

Poe-less
literature
would not be as scary,
for he was the master of fright
and left your tell-tale heart beating faster;
his works always had you ravin’
for more chilling stories
but didn’t need
police

when you're making gravy;
one tablespoon butter and flour
blended together over heat before
you add one cup of milk for each
of the tablespoons used.

appreciate
someone else’s music
if there is no explanation
as to what they’re trying to accomplish
but one can always realize
the beauty and the mood
they’re trying to
connote

trying
not to displease
can be never-ending
since it's hard to know what pleases
and everyone's mood constantly changes
and the poor accommodators
often end up being
people who are
trying

who are
the disgruntled
people you can not please
no matter what you try to do
and no appeasement seems to change their minds
because that is in their nature,
could it be these people
are the same ones
who war

the same
beginning words
have to be somehow weaved
into the course of your stories
so that they fill out your Rictameters
and bring them to a conclusion
that drops your poor reader
at closing words
the same

closing
with the same words
or something similar,
like when you started with “to need”
and finished with the sounds-like phrase “to knead”
is what I’ve tried to emulate
using “who are”/”who war”
which will make the
close sing

Wills made
out in detail
solve a lot of problems;
that's why William (Liam to close friends)
wrote out a lawyer-guided, specific
document, line-by-line telling
who'd get his possessions.
The house went to
Will's maid

by Daniel and his son
seems to be nearing completion
because he is spending more time writing
than he has in the last few months
and real soon, he will have
a rental and
house too

from too much mowing in the sun
and not paying attention to water
or sign of my eyes going dim
ignored as I kept on;

but it was not level
because the ground was not graded
so the contractor had to do it twice
which was expensive for us both
but was better than a
do-it-yourself
bad slab
