Pennant for Trebor Tsorf

Perhaps it’s just indifference
and not the fact they don’t come by
to post or crit or read so I
continue on my way. From hence
no tears will fall; a patient sigh

may find escape. I’d bring them back
with open arms or find a way
to fill these halls again one day.
Most forums are cobwebbed and black
with no one there to pen a lay

and everything remains the same.
I guess I could go here and there
to post a piece but it would wear
upon my nerves and I might claim
it’s good but it would just be fair.

I’ll hide in Karnak’s undergrowth
and hope for some small change; it could
bring back a few who understood
to raise the dead… I’ll carry both
a torch and cross made out of wood.

That name looked familiar somehow.

It seems to be the same out there, and I don't even search anymore. Mary had a site going for a while after many were disenchanted with AP, All Poetry. She brought numerous people in from various directions including me, and the site grew, fell off, we brought more on board, it fell off, up, down, until there were only perhaps half a dozen regulars and many dozen un-regulars. There was no use in flogging the horse any more, and we shut down. Too bad, as it looked promising.

I don't know the answers - a large number we knew back in our heydays are forever gone. Others have acquired different interests, and many have abandoned muses. Is social media to blame? Likely not as one can do both - it's easy nowadays.

I often wonder how they did it in days of old, when the ink well and quill were common. Was paper as abundant as we have it, and what happened to mistakes - simply crossed out and rewritten, or the whole piece tossed and redone? I have a text that show's Trebor's Snowy evening, where he changed one horse to a team, and other corrections. Interesting.

Hi Merlin,

Of course it's familiar. I merely borrowed your mimesis hoping for a reversal of fortune for MM.
Sorry for Mary's site closure. Part of it is my fault for not continuing on after joining but I couldn't figure out
how or where to post and as I read some of the entries, I realized a lot of critique was not forthcoming.
That is why I joined and stayed with this site. Nearly eight years ago, there were lots of knowledgeable people
who were willing to help and give positive feedback, no matter how mundane the post happened to be.

I don't know about the social media scene because I don't do face-book, I don't tweet, I don't etc., ad nauseam.
Too many folks out there are willing to cut someone with the verbal knife and I never like a battle of words because
it seems to be an exercise in futility. Being old, I don't have that much time to waste.

Hope Summer is treating you right because down here, it's like a free sauna; 95 degrees and 80% humidity.

Anyway, thanks for being among the few who still visit and I'm glad you're "still around".

Larry

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the confusion. That is Merlin's doing and I just followed his lead.

Trebor Tsorf is merely Robert Frost in reverse!

Actually, Trebor Tsorf was a very successful poet, but slightly backward.
