NOTHing like CHRISTmas can HONor the WINter...
Long chilly nights with a star for a guide...
Pity Down Under, it's hot as a cinder,
reindeer avoid ever going outside!

Bearded and bounded by fur 'round his headpiece,
Santa would melt in that red belted suit.
Better bedecked by a golf cap and shed fleece,
antipode children must stay on his route.

Hiya Ron,
They use boomers Downunder - I have that on good authority.
We had a singer/entertainer who made his home here in Vancouver some years back, Ralph Harris, if I recall correctly. One of his hitsongs was "Six White Boomers" - snowwhite boomers, pulling Santa's sleigh thru the southern sky... (them's Kangaroos)

Goes to show - being resourceful gets the big fella around.

Cute piece, Ron...

and I've never heard of "Two Buffaloes"... but I did find this site, in case you're interested further re Rolf Harris, including some of his song lyrics.

And Merlin... didn't realize you're in Vancouver! I've not visited there for some time, but maybe on my next trek 'home' to WA, especially if I visit one of my step-brothers in Victoria.

Dear Merlin,
Funny, it seemed at first implausible that boomers cound fly- yet since I was taught as a child that Santa's reindeer could fly, only kangaroo seemed out of place.
It just goes to show that we are so conditioned to believe anything before we're 10, and once we believe it, we'll avoid subjecting it to thought.
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for the link. Harris is also popular here for "Caraculus". For me he is a prime embassador for a trip to Australia. Everything I hear of Down Under I like.
Cheers, ron jgd

Too true, Ron.
I recall reading a short story in Reader's Digest years ago. It spoke of someone who had gone into a park, and there he saw a Spanish family calling and feeding the raccoons. His thought was, "How silly - raccoons don't speak Spanish."

We talk to our pets, our livestock, and so on. Do they understand us?

Downunder, boomers probably fly this time of year.

Hi Daniel, actually, I live north of Spokane, in the Okanagan Valley and 1 hr north of the border. It's inland about 4 hours driving, but the nearest major city & airport, altho Kelowna isn't too small anymore. Thanks for the link too, and the name correction. I hadn't thought of Rolf for years, and forgot.

Merlin
