Hi all,

New Definite Date: Saturday 22nd, April 2006

MM in the UK 2006-A Meeting. (There may be a B-Meeting later in the year!).

As I've been instrumental in the previous three MM-UK meetings, I'm hoping to take a back seat on this one. However, I do want to float the idea.

The meeting would probably be an informal pub meeting at a lunchtime and previously the Oxford area was mooted as a good location.

It would be open to any and all members of MM - so, for example, if you live abroad but are in the UK at the time, you'll be very welcome indeed.

OK please add your ideas to this tile. We don't need a specific venue yet (unless you have one in mind) but we would like to know who would like to attend and any dates which are impossible in March / April - which seems a good target period.

Do we invite guests of members? (Not that one has to bring one, of course). However, for example, if we did have an overseas member visiting we would hardly wish to say "please join us" to them but not to their travelling companion. But what about guests in general?

Here's my personal bit:

All being well, I'd love to attend. The Oxfordshire area would be fine for me (as would be some other areas). I can make most days generally, save Thursdays and Sundays. Else at this time I am flexible - but, of course, dates close down as we approach. I can only make lunchtimes in general. Although I have no plans to bring a human guest, I would welcome guests being invited.

Cheers, James.

Another MM meet sounds like an excellent idea.  I don't mind trying to fix up a mutually agreeable date again. Everyone can PM me dates they are available.   Unfortunately I am quite heavily booked up workwise in March and the beginning of April but will see how dates pan out.

Reading or Oxfordshire areas would be fine for me, bearing in mind that I don't have a car and will be travelling by train.

I don't intend bringing any guests, human, canine or otherwise but have no objection to others bringing guests.

Nina

Boo! hoo! hoo! I want to be there!

It would be such fun to meet you all?

I have a family wedding in July in France. Not planning on going, as I am visiting Bjorn (my son) in Switzerland in December (and that is an arm and a leg...) I was referring to finances, not skiing accidents!

Keep me posted, James.

I should add that while I don't mind sorting out the date, I don't wish to organise the location and venue.

Nina, thanks. OK Well, if you'll do all the tough spreadsheety-datey thinsg, I think I can find a pub.

The Reading area is also fine for me - I used to drive there daily.

Bev, you'd be very welcome - just take out another mortgage!

Great idea - thanks James, Nina for getting it started

I don't mind pming possible attendees once we have a provisional date or dates.

Reading or Oxford areas are both fine for me. I may well be travelling by train again.

I'm not available March 17th - 19th or  24th - 26th; April 1st, 2nd and probably not so good in the Easter hols 8th - 24th (all dates inclusive).

OK, since Nina and Fran are finding March / April tough - what about May? Shall we forget trying to fit in the earlier two months and just go May?

Yes, the end of April or May would probably be easier and if we sort out a date soon, I can block it out at work so nothing will get booked up for me then.

We were very restrained last time, Bev - at least in terms of drinking ... erm   Hide.gif

So Bev's to buy the beverages? Sounds like a good start to a poetic get together LOL.gif

Hi all.

>B> Why do I have to pay for the drinks?

Bev's buying the booze! Brill! Thanks Bev. Why? Because they're not there, yet.

>F> Fran (still getting over finding a fruit bat in rural Hamsphire)

It's ok for you Fran - that poor bat will never get over finding the Fran in its rural Hampshire abode! Poor thing's probably turned carnivore!

OK all: Let's target last week April / May shall we?

Anyone have problems there... ??

J.

Us batty Bev!!!  Whatever gives you that idea? LOL.gif

Blame James, he chose the pub with the biggest bat I've ever seen suspended from the ceiling.

Actually it was a really lovely olde worlde pub steeped in history.

A couple more names: Ivor (poeticpiers) and Jan (circumsolar)

Last week April/beginning May sounds good.  The only days I can't make are Tuesday 25 April, Thursday 4 May (but Thursdays are out anyway) and Monday 8 May.

What everyone's thoughts about meeting on a Saturday?

Nina

Hi all...

Biggest bat, maybe but Fran still scared (scarred?) it to death! :)

Thanks for the additional names, Nina - apologies, both!

Grace tells me she cannot make May. Let's look at that last week in April, shall we?

Any other problems with that?

Thanks Nina... I, too, can make all of those dates at present.

I know Nina would find Saturdays the easiest - and I can do a Saturday as easily as any other day.

Hello all you lovely peeps!

Reading or Oxfordshire areas would be fine for me.

As James says I can't make May as I will be swanning around the Greek Islands for a whole month! (Well, someone has to do it) LOL.gif

At present end of April is fine by me. cloud9.gif
