Dear Zeus

Lovely.

I also have a Tennyson parody, The Battle of Hastings 1995, which I will post here soon.

It is all about the Hastings Int'l POetry Festival which I attend each year in November.

I'd recommend all MosMusers to attend !

Love
Alan

The Charge of the Light Brigade
Or

The Red Zone

Half a yard, half a yard
half a yard forward
all in the valley of the red zone
rode the eleven
Forward!! offensive line
charge for the touchdown
into the valley of  victory
rode the team

Forward !! offensive line
was there a man slacking
not tho’ the QB knew
someone has blundered
their’s not to make reply
their’s not to reason why
Their’s but to do or die
into the valley of the red zone
rode the team

guards to  right of them
tackles to left of them
defensive backs in front of them
trash talk,
boldly they ran
into the jaws of defense
into the mouth of hell
rode the team

flashed all their helmets bare
flashed as they tackled in the air
charging the line, while
all the fans stared
plunged into the  hole
to try for the goal
right thru the  line they broke
blocking back, and ball carrier
reel’d from the deft stroke
shatter’d and sunder’d

that they had fought so well
back from the mouth of hell
all that was left
rode the team

when can their glory fade
on the wild charge they made,
all the fans wondered
honor the charge they  blundered
honor the noble team
alas’ another shattered dream
rode  the team

{ Tennyson would have liked the NFL }
