As morning's perfection introduces hope for the day,
foreboding evil lurks in the wings.
Unaffected, they forge through
steadily embracing adventure of flight,
gliding forcefully;
ghostly terror unfolds.

Within cherished seconds;
symbolization of Red, White, and Blue
explodes a profusion of oranges and reds,
while life's evanescent fragments scatter
against a crisp panorama-
fire bursting bright.

Surreal horror unfolds, as
searing buildings slowly collapse,
smoky rubble of destruction
gently cascades down,
                                down,

                                         down...

Billowing haze engulfs the city
revealing a haunting, raven cloud;
the Melting Pot transforms into
imposing chaos.

Days pass, bewildered divulgence of ghostly reality
envelops helpless hearts as
quiet spectators observe
hellish images scorching distressed brains,
unraveling demonic atrocities.

Digesting unpredictable horror
layered with insurmountable pain;
with inconceivable tragedy
eventuating our world,
evil boldly confessing truth.

Void of fathomable words to conceptualize cold calculated abhorrence,
troubled hearts grasp numbing anesthetics
leaving desperation,
drawn from utter unacceptance.

Forever in our hearts and memories....

Hello Lindi.

So many lines here bearing witness to atrocity and the inhumanity of man. One line in particular stood out for me.
troubled hearts grasp numbing anesthetics

As a fireman I know too well what it is to confront tragedy.
My comrades and I have this peculiar way of dealing with the horror and sorrow of it all. We light up a cigarette. We crack a few jokes to hide the tears and stay professional. We finish what we started.
Then we go home and write poetry.

Sometimes a poem really can wash the pain away

A.

Sometimes a poem really can wash the pain away

And those are most often the BEST pieces. Straight from the HEART and no holding back...

Imhotep and I have been in a similiar place as You "A" (and I ain't talking about our homeland of Egypt)  upside.gif

P worked for Boston EMS as a Paramedic and I as an EMT-Mast designation for several years in the mid 90's.

It's good to have a place to come to and wash away the day's pains and triumphs, with a pen and paper - isn't it?

Lindi's piece here is such a piece - heart wrenching honesty.

Very well written.

Proudly her understudy....
