Not Alone

Tread softly on the forest trail that’s blazed
from years of cautious steps. Small creatures bide
within this clime and I am so amazed
at their variety. I’ve often tried

to see how many species I could count
on my forays into their tiny realm
but numbers grow into a huge amount.
Their multiplicity would overwhelm

most entomologists but I’ve digressed
and am so fortunate to coexist
with all these denizens for I feel blessed.
To live in harmony, I must insist

you stay upon the path and do not roam
for you may step on someone else’s home.

As you know, originally I posted a response sonnet here. I wondered whether I ought to do that, and since you didn't respond to it, I've removed it and placed it were it belongs, in Hermes as Naughty Loan

I hope that you do NOT think I didn't take your piece seriously. As a matter of fact I ALWAYS do, including the ones that you masterfully write that are also funny or quirky!
