Hi Cathy! :StarWars1:
I find this mystifying. How many actually analyze photographs and wonder as you have portrayed here in this piece.
Here are some thoughts for you to ponder. Enjoyed the read Cleo :dragon:

There's a young girl's picture in grandma's hall ... no one's ever known who she was.
Just for the sake of eliminating some of those contractions, how about: There is a young girl’s picture in grandma’s hall… no one ever knew her.
Sitting demure on a felled oak tree; afternoon gold shimmering off her hair, loosened spit curls caressing her cheek ...
Since you refer to a picture, I think past tense may work a tad better for S2, your call as always.
She sits demure on a felled oak tree; afternoon gold shimmers off her hair, loosened spit curls caress her cheek ...
Despite {her} naïveté{,} she looks mischievous; part naughty scamp, part playful imp. A hint of laughter from cherried lips, sparkle of pixie in sapphire eyes ...
"Is it my imagination or did she just smile?" LOVE THIS!!!!
