Vexing Moon

The spirits vex on Hallows Eve,
when veils are thin above the dead,
a harvest rich, makes them not leave,
their treats are bitter dark from dread.

Translucent movement in the night
a scary howling full of shrills,
green witches stew, brews soup of fright,
as goblins dance a dance of chills.

Parades through lanes search long for sweets,
afraid to see a ghostly form,
and bars of plenty; gooey treats
tempt hungry kids into haunt’s storm.

Hi Linda

I love this very topical poem -- and the picture Jester.gif gave me a chuckle.

we did not used to have trick or treat here in the Uk when I was young but bobbed fo apples and youngladies would peel an apple in one long ribbon.Throw it over thier shoulder and find the initial of their future husband when it fell on the floor.WE do share the belief that all hallow eve allows the spirits free rein to revisit their former lives .

I enjoyed your light hearted poem although I read it somewhat belatedly
