Mosaic Musings...interactive poetry reviews _ Introduce Yourself _ Hello, from a Starsailor, lost

Posted by: StarsailorLost Apr 10 13, 15:27

Hello and good tidings! I've just been invited here by JustDaniel, and old poetry friend of mine. Thank you, Daniel! Some may remember me from other forums as Serenem, or as Melinda, or as StarsailorLost. I don't have a constant internet connection, but I look forward to posting as often as I can and to becoming a part of this community. I love free verse, work very hard at it and look forward to a workshop atmosphere. I try to give as good as get, or more. I occasionally do more structured forms, but I am a novice to the extreme-- unless we're discussing haiku, which I absolutely adore.

Well, that's a start, anyway!

I look forward to getting to know all of you, and your poetry, very well!

Why hello Melinda and WELCOME TO MM! Newbie.gif PartyFavor.gif Balloons.gif

I believe we have interacted before a LONG time ago at the old PK, haven't we? I fancy structured forms but enjoy reading all types of poetry, and am sure your posts will be much welcomed.

We're in a bit of a revitilzation and have always offered honest, yet friendly feedback in our forums so I hope you'll find yourself at home here. odie.gif There are many members here with different skill levels and technique, which makes MM more comfortable and diverse. sings.gif cheer.gif

Please, wander our halls, take in our colorful 'tiles' and join in the fun. hsdance.gif Idea.gif

Hi Melinda,

Welcome to MM. I'm glad to see someone new (haven't had anyone for a while). Although I don't write very much Free Verse, I do enjoy reading that form and will be glad to offer any assistance possible. Daniel, from his numerous posts, has become one of my favorite people here and we interact a lot in the short form section dealing with Haiku, Senryu, Limericks, etc.

Looking forward to your posting!

Larry

Greetings, our newest Grandmother!!!!

I'm thrilled that you've come as a lost sailor, and I hope that you'll find here a welcome port from which to launch out into the deep.

I have many memories of my awe at your free verse as 'Serenem' and your helpful leadership as a moderator. You were among those who took me under your wings when I first launched into internet poetry after having written absolutely noting for about 20 years. Those were rich days of learning for me, and you were very much a part of it!

deLighting in the prospect of your stimulating and encouraging others as you hone your own skills again... and grow as a Grandmother, Daniel sun.gif

P.S. I'm betting your grandchild will be in one of your next poems!! rose.gif

Whew! I'm back at last! I had to spend a few days in the hospital, unfortunately. I have asthma, and this is pine pollen season in NC. Huge yellow clouds of it are floating through the air and covering *everything*! Anyway, it sent me into a series of serious asthma attacks that were so bad that I had an anxiety attack on top of it. (a whole new experience for me, this!) They treated me with prednisone (a steroid) which threw my usually well-controlled diabetes into dangerous levels, which they had to spend quite a long time bringing back down to normal levels.

Well, I'm at my daughter's house and finally able to get back here to say hello to old friends and one new one, (hi, Larry! It's really nice to meet you!)

Cleo, Daniel, Liz, Snow and Scott-- I remember you well from old haunts and am excited to catch up with you, again! Actually, I've been in contact with both Daniel and Scott through Facebook; it's been fun!

Thanks for the friendly welcome, guys!!!

Wow, Mel!

We're both glad you're back with us and that you're still with us!!

Greetings to your now caregiving daughter. I assume that also places you with your new grandchild too. (You may note here that we've become grandparents for the 7th time last Thursday evening too!

So glad to see you... and I hope that you'll give ol' Scotty a nudge to post something for us to gnaw on!!

OMG Melinda!

I am glad you are back home and are on the upswing! prescription.gif

I have pollen allergies (but not asthma) too and I've been dealing with a very NASTY chest "virus" for 4 weeks now and still going. It's mostly in the chest now but it kicked up my sinuses too over the past 2+ weeks and I thought it was allergies but it is a virus, supposedly. My PCP will not prescribe an antibiotic because I have no fever. He added an Abuterol inhaler (like you I presume) to help with the breathing and I was also on Prednisone all last week. While my head cold has mostly subsided, the chest thing has not. I wonder if it is what you have as well?

I am usually very healthy and never have a cold for more than a few days. This is just horrid! I am so sick of taking the stuff I am at present: Zyrtek and Flonase plus I was taking Musinex Max for 14 days (just stopped) and Aleve for pain with an earache. SIGH

I don't mean to complain - I hope you are feeling better every day! hsdance.gif

Perhaps we should challenge each other to write about it? LOL.gif

Hi, Daniel! Thanks for the kind words, I'm feeling much better now. I see that I need to clear up a detail, however! wink.gif Technically, I am not yet a grandmother as the baby isn't due until July 28th! Still, in my heart, he's already here, though in his mama. <3 I love him already!

Oh! Yes! And congratulations on your new addition!!

Posted by: StarsailorLost Apr 16 13, 11:40

Oh, Cleo! What a mess; I sympathize! Yes, I had a bit of a chest congestion/infection before the pollen hit. The pollen just pushed it over the edge, with a big ol' kick! I use an albuterol inhaler as needed and I have a nebulizer that I use when I'm experiencing more than the usual problems. This last time, though it was determined that i actually experienced that panic attack on top of it all. I was terrified!

Ha! I've always hated taking pills, even aspirin, and now I have so many different things I must take that it is a time consuming event in the morning(plus a few at night!) I, too, don't wish to complain, but... my goodness!!

I hope you feel better soon. It really is miserable to be sick, especially, when it involves your lungs and the all too important and necessary breathing, yes?

Love and good wishes to you!

Melinda

Hey Girls,

It is not complaining, this is what old friends share - especially as we stumble upon so many aches and pains and health issues.

Mel, I know what you mean about the medication schedule... in the morning its like medication for high blood pressure, diabetes, COPD, Gerd and Fibro is my breakfast, and I have to set an alarm on my cell to remind me of my afternoon and evening meds - LOL ... talk about getting old ...

I slipped into the 40's and tumbled through to 50 where I crash landed! LOL There must be a poem in all of these threads! HAHA ...

Could you believe my grand daughter is going to be 10? ... She is so much me, and so much like her mother it is crazy. She is my world!!!

I will enjoy sharing in the birth of your grand son and watching him grow through your poetry and perhaps some pictures. I am happy to be in touch with you again.

Best wishes, Liz

It's really mind boggling, Liz, isn't it? You've gotta laugh or you might just cry! :) Ten years old!?!? Wow, how time rushes by! I can't wait to experience all the joys and challenges at which you've already become an expert!

So happy to hear from you! :D

Hello Melinda, Serenem as well,

I may mistake.
It's many years betwixt last posts and now,
No muse called out, my heart would not allow,
oh end the break

Keith, the happy chappy

ps, I'm pretty sure we met before but my memory is far from reliable these days.
