Do not shield the young from life’s pain,
for doing so, brings them no worthy gain.
Instead, if given time to learn and mature,
we might well find there’s some pure
undiscovered gold to be mined from their
naive, untarnished minds. A place where
lush untapped ideas can form, and ring
a warning bell for mankind. One to bring
peace and tranquility to the world, in a phase
of harmonious melody. Youth might raise
awareness and reveal our most urgent needs,
and by their vision, achieve greater deeds.
Whilst no one knows what the future brings,
Youth may lead us to achieve greater things.

Hey Denis,

You have hit the nail on the head with this one. The younger generation is our future and if we do not guide their minds and actions, we'll be in one hellava mess.

I enjoyed your thought provoking piece.

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

Hi Larry,

A busy day for me, trying to catch up on old MM Challenges, whilst keeping a close eye on the snow laden clouds! We missed the worst of it - thankfully ! Still finding some of the Ten Word challenges I missed with my prolonged absence, so I'm working on catching up - a little! Always enjoy that type of challenge. Gets my little grey cells working, and they've been taking it easy for far too long.

When one looks at all the mayhem going on in this world, and how much of it is being perpetrated by teenagers - do they not realise that war is no computer game? I wonder what the average age of the Isis members is? I fear we may already be trying to shut the gate after the horse has left the stable, as we see spin-off renegades here in Canada that follow some ideology we of an older generation, cannot understand! Another teenager (17) was arrested in Toronto, yesterday, after he'd issued threats to his school mates inter alia, via Twitter. After someone from your side of the border, tipped off our police, they searched his home, and found a veritable arsenal of deadly weapons. Guns, machetes and butcher knives. Seems he was caught just in time, as he had said today would be his day of infamy!

Time to bring back the death penalty? though I doubt it would do any good. Some seem bent on committing suicide one way or another, and taking as many innocent lives as they can! What a sick world we live in today or so it seems of late?

Bitter cold expected here overnight, and more snow expected over the next seven days! Time to hunker down and hope the hydro doesn't go down! Already had one outage this week, and I think my UPS is starting to show its age.
Have a great day.

Thanks for your comment. Ciao Denis.!
