It exerts no tax on my memory,
to recollect on a time when I,
a snip of a youth at twenty,
wearing a star studded mask,
glinting with the sparkle of steel,
was dressed as a Knight Errant
for an evening costumed ball.
Thinking to follow a delusory dream,
I decided to wear a flowing,
burgundy Crusader’s cloak,
to impress my latest lady Love.

Rhymer. Februry 22nd, 2017.

Words used in order:
Tax, recollect, snip, twenty,
star, mask, sparkle, steel, burgundy, love.
(Thought I'd depart from my norm and try free verse)

Heavens, Denis!!

You leave us hanging completely. Not even a HINT of how it all came out!

Unless you're writing a series and this is the pilot, you've made a grave error -- all this wonderful detail and anticipation!

Of course Daniel! But like myself, you'll have to wait for the next ten word Challenge! It was quite the experience for me to write in this manner, for as you know, I seldom write in any other format except rhyming.

I did think to continue on from this intial oppening verse, (using the same words) but two things have prevented it! Firstly, I was not sure if I was messing up the rules of free verse, (are there any?) and secondly, my health has deteriorated somewhat recerntly, and it’s quite the struggle to concentrate on my passion! Poor excuse I know, but true nonetheless.

Hope all is well with you? I’m will try to take this first verse further, but don’t hold your breath! Lol! Have a great day. Ciao Denis.

Denis,
Free verse becomes you. Like Daniel, I too am waiting for the next episode in what could be a great series about you and your lady love.
