Never was your love…Seasons come and go
Moments disappear
in fog of joy or fear
as children come and grow
They drift and wend their way
through pain, delight and grief
trust and unbelief…
can't hear a word you say
And yet, they come to see your love again
in something so mundane
they cannot explain…
some Light explodes, and midnight turns to dawn…
never was your love vain.
Seasons greet them too
for cuddling or flight
to share a weekend night
together, overdue
their children come along
play unfamiliar tunes
inventing their own runes
to sing in cryptic song
And yes, they will discover love again
perhaps through joy or pain…
in a way they can't explain…
their sun will rise as midnight turns to dawn…
never was your love vain.
