My apologies to all I may have overlooked....your name may not be here in print, but your creative spirit thrives in my consciousness.....

OUR MM FAMILY

Mosaic Musings is
a safe, cordial oasis,
where positive support
is our prime emphasis.

Daniel delights us
with forms obscure,
their content takes us
on a poetic tour.

Lori weaves a balance,
being honest and gentle,
compassionately creative;
oftentimes sentimental.

John from down under,
a wise and witty chap
writes of faraway places
we can’t find on a map.

Liz is graciously kind
in offering studied crits,
always even-tempered
never throws a fit.

Don’s a midwestern guy,
who loves the outdoors
from farmlands to the sea,
he has a zest to explore.

Cathy’s gentle nature
brightens our days,
her exuberant disposition
keeps gray skies at bay.

Dennis is a newbie
and a tiger by name,
sex, dialogue and religion
spirit his proverbial flame.

Snow writes lyrically
from across the pond;
it’s her flowered verses
that sweetens our bond.

Alan’s a judicious fellow
in this workshop community,
his satirical perspectives
offer a unique sense of unity.

Aggie may reside in Borneo,
but her heart lives here
with this literate group,
she is a much respected peer.

Oh’ Steve is one man
who’s never gloomy or sad
he’s been a loyal pal
during good times and bad.

Cyn’s natural sentiment
is a virtue to behold,
she freely shares it
with friends new and old.

Eric, alias Merlin pens
visions of clouds and snow,
their tranquil images
cast a comforting glow.

Sylvia from Argentina way
paints with bucolic words,
vibrant landscaped horizons
of rivers and colorful birds.

We are much richer today
for this infusion of good will
this friendly, warm refuge
leaves us all jubilantly fulfilled.

Oh John this is beautiful. Probably the best gift anyone could give Mosaic Musings, but a snapshot of some members who make up the heart of MM and If I can return with a proper critique, I will but would also like to add a stanza on behalf of our Jly... We cannot forget the flame that feeds the fires of inspiration within all of us here! :)

Hugs, Liz

Possibility for a new stanza that will sit between the last two stanzas...

and then there's me; a simple man
who shares the depths of my heart
through poetry, painting a view that can
tell tales of love, and life...I do my part!

Liz,
Thanks. I try to write a Group poem each year about our assorted personalities. Last year I wrote a poem for the MM Family entitled Fall Aboard.

This poem is not artistically perfect...wrote it rather quickly, but I tried to capture some of the essence of each person. I had to go back and read some of our Member's poems to get a flavor of their style and subject matter.

If I had more time I would have added more members to the mix....but I tried to write it in a boy / girl format to give equal billing to some of our family.

AM,
It was fun, the rhyme scheme and style is similar to what a schoolkid would write...I won't win any creative awards for it, but hopefully it will make a few people smile.

Hi John

What a lovely idea for a poem, but I do so agree with Liz that you add a stanza about you along the lines suggetsed by Liz or similar

then there's me; a simple man
who shares the depths of my heart
through poetry, painting a view that can
tell tales of love, and life...I do my part

This was a lovely tribute to MM friends. I am interested in reading last year's ......where might I find it ? In archives or just back a ways in the forums? Thanks,

Marcia,
The last one was posted in Homers in August of 05. I have copied it and pasted it here for you to read.....

FALL ABOARD

Fall is the perfect season to muse
changing landscapes, framed in glorious hues.
What better time to take a trip,
either by car, train or a sailing ship.

Let me take you on a mirthful journey
with a group of travelers with a poetic yearning.
They look to energize their creativity
with lyrical images void of any negativity.

I bring before you this cast and crew
whose lives we know through and through.
Warm affections echo their unique identity;
providing us with a welcome dose of serenity.

A connection that developed a few months ago
has held firm and even continued to grow.
We all delightfully share a common bond
of our experiences we collaboratively correspond.

The social director is a fair young maiden
who is eternally demur and never brazen.
To her family and friends she’s simply known as Lorraine,
her temperament is as sweet as a gentle drop of rain.

The conductor has a devious grin and a hearty laugh,
cause he thinks that he is the chief of staff.
He goes by the pseudonym of Zeus,
his writing style for some, is just a tad bit obtuse.

David provides us with an electronic link,
his witty postings make us ponder and think.
To all of us he is a nobleman and a knight,
sheathed in an internet armor ever so bright.

Susan’s warm thoughts provide us with an emotional spark,
as she has shown us how to be young at heart.
Her tender offerings have won her many fans,
she is viewed by all as a genuine good Samaritan.

Linda’s generous spirit makes us want to commune,
her reassuring words are always in tune.
Her compassion and caring are virtues to behold
as she freely shares them with friends, new and old.

Alan loves life and all it has to offer,
it’s the companionship of his peers he most prefers.
Always seemingly content to be just a role player,
his lifelong dream is to be our morning mayor.

Although separated by many miles,
Lucie’s good nature sends us exuberant smiles.
Her perky personality suits her to a tee,
she could easily be a Mosaic emcee.

Ron is overflowing with clever ideas,
his topical comments bring a round of cheers.
A modern day bard with a penchant for Shakespeare,
his poems are classical, but never austere.

Our literary family has opened my eyes
to Homer’s Homilies and Punner’s Paradise.
To reach a coveted place on the Wall of Fame
is all that many of us wish to proclaim.

Homers
