QUOTE(Just Daniel @ Feb. 03 2005, 04:55) Hi Daniel,
This is poignantly marvelous! I feel every word ... every line. I think most of us have felt we've been "abandoned" by God at certain times in our lives.
Voice in the Dark
I’m feeling He’s abandoned me; a spiral down won’t set me free... what do you mean in this line? I need to cling, remembering, when I’ve no sight, the things He’s shown me in the light... in darkness, sing. How well I identify with these four lines ....
“How can you sing!” a voice may blare. “It’s obvious He doesn’t care; just face the facts.” Ahhh I hear the enemie's words here as he works on all of us! Amid the drone of dark despair, a still, small Voice is always there; on this I act. Yes, wonderfully expressed ...
God is near the broken-hearted, hears before a prayer is started... been there too... near the one whose spirit’s crushed; “I’ll never leave you.” List now… hushed... He cries with you.
© Daniel J Ricketts 03 Feb 2005 Psalm 34:18
I think John's words about this poem being very uplifting is something I thoroughly agree with. It began in despair, and then hearing Him through tender whispers, we read how He lifts, strengthens, and gives us hope and promise for tomorrow.
Brilliantly written, my friend,
Blessings, Dolly |

Thanks so much to all of you who showed me so kindly that you care!
A brief update: David and I were indeed married for "Time and All Eternity", as is our belief, on March 19, 2004. We left the next day for our long and leisurely honeymoon ... almost four weeks!
We first took a private room on a train 3,000 miles across the nation. We spent a week in Ohio and Michigan so David's family and friends could get to know me a little bit. Then we took his already packed van and drove home here to Oregon .. another 3,000 miles.
We saw so many GORgeous sights we were profoundly touched by how much love our Heavenly Father has for us to give us such a glorious land to live in! He could have stuck us all on a barren planet, but he chose to give us magnificent varieties of flora and fauna beyond words to describe.
David has undergone his really serious surgery. They had to remove 2 tumors instead of 1, with one of them on its way to becoming cancer. Then from the other side of his colon they had to remove diverticuli that were almost ready to burst! His mother died from this due to bleeding to death.
It was very extensive. He was in hospital for 8 days and will not be able to do anything strenuous for at least 6 months. He still has pain spasms that are horrendous.
His prescriptions alone come to over $400.00 per month and we have no insurance due to serious pre-existing health conditions. But, we found a way to defer 25% to 80% of all our med's costs. If anyone else wants to know how to do that, (only available in the states) just let me know.
We're doing pretty well. Instead of a regular garden this year we're growing our flowers and vegies in pots, pots, and MORE pots! I told my church leader we had a pot garden and he told me, "Uhhhh I think we need to have a talk!" I quickly explained what I'd meant. LOL
It's difficult for me to be much of a mod in here right now. I regret to say I don't know if I ever will be able to do much in the furture either as we've begun a home business that is keeping us extrememly busy.
Thanks for all your prayers and caring.
Hugs,
Dolly |

Very unusual and interesting poem, Dove, so full of yummy things to eat, smell, and look upon! I did wonder about a couple of words, though.
QUOTE(Dove @ Mar. 02 2004, 21:39) Sunset
Spoonfuls of sugar cover blueberries, with a banana on the side.
Why banana on the side ... why not in bowl with blueberries?
Many mandarin slices, strawberry splotches,
Why strawberry "splotches"? I LOVE strawberries, but the splotches I cut out first.
cherry stems, Cherry "stems" not the sweet fruit?
kiwi leaves, Hmmmmm kiwi "leaves" ... never tasted the leaves, but LOVE kiwi FRUIT.
plum halves, and the last sliver of peach; ripe pear-shaped day.
Pomegranate seeds, grape wine perfume, cranberry strings,
Do you mean strings like for a Christmas tree?
pealed coconut orbiting;
Don't get this one at all.
eggplant night. [/b] Otherwise, I think it's a clever poem full of visual goodies!
Blessings,

QUOTE(Zeus² @ Feb. 26 2004, 13:59) Dolly, so much said poignantly with so few words. Larry Ahhhhhh yes, my friend ... a lesson I'm learning more about every day. I've noticed the last lingering taste of my foot-in-my-mouth is leaving. When one's mouth is moving it's hard to engage ears or muse.
Thank you, larry,

Enjoyed
Dani Hi Dani ... it takes time and doing to improve one's skills. Daniel's been telling me this for years and I think I'm just beginning to find my muse.

QUOTE(blondie @ Feb. 24 2004, 08:35) Hi there, Dolly! I enjoyed your cinquain. :) I have noticed you seem to have a knack for these, which I admire. I am fond of the form, but I have trouble compacting a solid message into so few lines. You do it quite well! :) I can relate to this piece.....I guess it's the risk-taking "Aries" in me... Take care and happy writing! ~Amy~ Hi Amy,
Glad you liked this wee poem. I had the same problem in the beginning, with feeling the need of too many words. I'm still working on it, but the way I began was reading Daniel's fine cinqs and then writing a poem about some subject, using as few words as possible. Then, I began eliminating words in order to fit the poem's syllable count ... lo and behold, I found I didn't really NEED all the words I'd thought I did.
Thanks for your compliments and good luck in writing one of your own! When you do, let me know as I want to read it, OK?
Blessings,
