 Sonnet Primer A sonnet can be many things, but first — at least what's usual — we start with duh. That may sound strange, but with it comes a thirst for DUMs to follow,,, soon they'll call you 'Suh'. Iambic, see, is what duh-DUM is called; pentameter is saying it five times. You place such lines together till you've hauled fourteen of them into one piece… with rhymes, most oft in three quatrains, a couplet too. But other ways to write them are around, so never let your head get in a stew. You'll read of variations; they abound. An English sonnet looks a bit like this; grasp this form first, and you'll not go amiss. © MLee Dickens'son 03 May 2007 ·······  ·······Slow down; things will go faster!
