ROSES ON KOS
We chanced today upon a garden fair, the scent of roses carried on the air. A black-garbed lady caught my eye. From my impoverished store of Greek, 'Orea, Orea' said I. Then, smiling with pleasure; she did not speak but motioned me to wait - and cut and gave to me a portion of her treasure !

Dear Grace
Another lovely slice of PC life (in the MM definition as invented by you ).
Coupla tiny ones :
We chanced today upon a garden fair, the scent of roses carried on the air. -- in the air ? either, probably ! A black-garbed lady caught my eye. From my impoverished store of Greek, -- From my meagre Greek ? 'Orea, Orea' said I. Then, smiling with pleasure; she did not speak but motioned me to wait - and cut and gave to me -- del "to" ? a portion of her treasure !
Lovely, you really carture this little moments in a most delightful way (if this were a musical, that would lead us all to burst into song .....)
Love Alan

Hello again Alan
[b]Dear Grace
Another lovely slice of PC life (in the MM definition as invented by you ).
Coupla tiny ones :

The scent was definitely carried on the air (wafted, really but I preferred carried)
A black-garbed lady caught my eye. From my impoverished store of Greek, -- From my meagre Greek ?
I used impoverished Alan because I used to know quite a few words of Greek which have now escaped through the holes in my addled brain!
'Orea, Orea' said I. Then, smiling with pleasure; she did not speak but motioned me to wait - and cut and gave to me -- del "to" ? a portion of her treasure !
Gave to me more aptly descibes the action Alan. This is a true story and those are the actual roses in the picture, which I took before they could wilt, so that I could always remember the moment.
Lovely, you really capture these little moments in a most delightful way (if this were a musical, that would lead us all to burst into song .....)
A little typo correction on 'carture this little' Alan
Love Grace

Hello Dove, (your very own emoticon)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on this short postcard. This is one of a series of PCs which I have written and it was the idea of Jox and Lori to use the photos which inspired the poems. It seems to be quite popular and I owe them my gratitude.
QUOTE what a unique and beautiful idea for a picture and piece of writing! i was captivated nonetheless by the moment, even though it was short. The reason for the brevity Dove was because it was meant to be able to fit on the back of a postcard, being sent home to friends, you know what an enjoyable chore that is, right??the only nit I have would be L7, to delete the "and" after the hyphen. I put both a hyphen and the word 'and' in here Dove, to indicate the natural pause while she cut the flowers for me after motioning me to wait. I guess you had to be there and the line: "From my impoverished store of Greek," made me smile wide....those languages are so hard to learn but so easy to forget!
Don't I know it. Years ago before I gave up the wicked weed. The first word I had to learn in any language was "ashtray". How sad it that? Haven't smoked now for ten years so I only remember a couple of the words too.
Cheers
Grace
