It's not that this is nit-free, but rather it is timely and Herme
unavailable.

The Western World they hold in low esteem.
They've no respect for those of diff'ring thought.
To have their way they'll sink to any scheme
and so to justice now they must be brought.

I heard the words of Mayor Livingston,
they fire the ire of all with valiant heart.
So soon the terroristists shall join the hun,
to go against the bulldog isn't smart!

In solidarity we must proceed
to make this world more safe for common man.
Perhaps one day no one shall bleed for creed,
although it's been that way since time began.

(I believe Londoners are called "bulldogs", if not, no offence intended)

Hi Ron,

Thanks for this offering. You may wish to copy it across (also, not instead) to the other tile which is on-hoing (Started by Chris - Morgan Le Fay).

It is very good Ron and much appreciated.

"Bulldog" is a nick-name for the British in general ("British Bulldog") and Churchill was often depicted as one. You'll certainly cause no offence. Although not specific to London it is most apt here.

As regards the terrorists - not ptroven they were Al Q yet (which is very diverse anyway) but it does seem highly likely. They don't actually have any respect for their own regimes, let alone Western ones.

There are several interesting stories behind Ken Livinsgton (Mayor of London). He was a Labout MP (Tony Blair's party) but Blair tried to block him being the Labour Party's candidate for London because he was too socialist for Blair's taste - so Livingston stood as an independent and resoundingly won. Then they made-up their differences and he won his second term as a re-instated member of Labour.

That moving speech you heard Livingston give was in Singapore where he had been, helping promote London's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Thatcher (remember her) couldn't get rid of Livingston in the 1980s when he ran London previously (and prior to being an MP) so she abolished the whole London Council to do so.

Heath (another previous Prime Minister) called Livingston "The acceptable face of Socialism."

Finally, he keps newts and is a bit of an amphibian nut.

I'm no socialist but if I lived in London I would vote for Livingston - he really cares for and understands London, as far as I can tell.

James.

Ron, thanks for this poem expressing such care and solidarity.

Perhaps one day no one shall bleed for creed,
although it's been that way since time began.

We can hope; but what you say is so very true.

Dear Jox,
Our news TV was 80% London yesterday, so I learned much of your world and found much similarity in the speeches made by Brit and U.S. public servants.
Livingston was impressive. I'm not surprized that even Thatcher (history's most dominant woman) couldn't subdue him.

Dear Nina,
Let's put those spots on the terrorists!

Dear Fran,
Differing creeds should have in common respect for the others, but perhaps that's utopean.

Cheers to all,    Ron   jgd

Hi Ron

I think the majority of people from different creeds do have common respect for the others.  It is only the minority that don't.
Today, in London there was a big inter-faith meeting with the Home Secretary over the bombings and many of the leaders of different faiths stood together in prayer outside Aldgate station.

The terrorists don't care whothey kill in the bombings.  Quite a few of those killed were Muslims, along with Christians, Jews, Hindus Sikhs, atheists.  Their acts of murder have little to do with religion, it is just the cloak they hide behind.

bigots exist in all creeds Mostly they do not undestand their own religion let alone have tolerance for othersr
It seems that the most powerful religions are monotheistic worship one omnipotent god Why do they suppose he. she cant take care of his business without their puny endeavours
