After a long awaited delay in coordinating our five judges and then needing to get a sub (thanks Leo); Wally we hope you are doing well, the winner of our ninth annual Mosaic Musings Holiday Classic has been chosen! A special thanks.gif goes out to our judges Bev (Peterpan), Snow (Eisa), Maureen, Sergio (saore) and Leo (Sekhmet). They were tasked with choosing 3 of the submissions they felt best represented the holiday season, allocating 3 points for their top nod, two for second and one for third.

It was a very close one in the end, with just a mere point separating 1st and 2nd, and a tie for 3rd! The two third place poems (with 5 points each) are My Xmas Wish List by Rhymer and Birthday by Psyche. The second place poem (with 6 points) is Mother's Side by Larry. And the winning poem (with 7 points) goes to Joyous Light by Cleo_Serapis. holly.gif dove.gif blueorn.gif

Joyous Light

Stargazing luminescent skies
His powdered dust revealed
the wonderment of Winter’s breath
dispersed across Fir’s field.

Amid tall balsams, there she stood
in cloak of glitter gold:
a vigil over evening’s glow
whose spark tempered the cold.

I chose the path less often walked
to greet her in the Wood
between the pond and Nature’s Kings--
a trip misunderstood.

My gift to bring – a treasure trove
of ornamental rings
were placed upon memorials
beholding angel’s wings.

A fringe of naked skin soon swept
me up from tethered Earth
and held me there, caressing love;
a spiritual rebirth.

Then came a flash of sparkling might:
those trees had touched the sky!
Star-bursts of light bedecked their tips;
red berried lace, oh my!

The sentinels rejoiced with me,
we shared God’s love that night
where souls I hold so dear are safe
within His Heaven’s light.
