Personally, I think that the most appropriate response to a limerick is another limerick...

but alas, this forum doesn't afford us that option... so I'll simply say that you've met the parameters with only a slight poke, but it seems to have come out all right... to screams... of laughter...

and I hope it didn't bleed.

Daniel,

That's not an accurate statement, come now, we've been around about this I can't even remember how many times!

You can certainly reply with your own limerick - so long as it doesn't take away the focus from Sam's poem, you've offered a critique first AND ask Sam's permission to do so. A poet's goal in this forum is to have their own poem workshopped, keep that in mind please. To restrict the many poetic replies that may come from it, I suggest posting further poems in the appropriate threads in KARNAK or in the Discussion forum, Alexandria's Library. Just post it there and provide a link HERE so Sam can follow it over there.

You know... I've been with MM only a short time. I've committed some newbie screw ups and maybe taken longer than I should to learn the site's etquette. I've read some excellent poetry, had exchanges with some wonderful people and commented honestly and I hope fairly. I do have a problem though, and I do not hide in the anonymity of internet back doors (PM, email) when I have something to say.

Daniel... you are a fine poet. You know more and exhibit more talent than I can ever hope to achieve, but geeeeze old friend... "lighten up". I'm uncomfortable posting here as I know that each time I do, I will recieve a fair assesment of my work... but with it will come a shot at the site or admin. I do NOT like being a vehicle for someone else's campaigns. I won't be recruited... for either side. I won't use my writing (or have it used) as a pick. Daniel... you must know that there are thousands of sites... pick one more to your liking or start one of your own.

I would guess that that will pretty much be my farewell speech here. Thanks all, and Daniel, I bear you nor anyone here any ill will.

My best to MM
Sam

Hi Sam,

I'm saddened to read your response that you feel uncomfortable posting here. This site is for the membership, and what you all make it. My goal is simple: keep the forum up and running, make sure the posting rules are followed (which are VERY fair IMHO) and keep the focus on the workshopping aspects of each member's threads (if posting in the crit forums). I think these are very fair and attainable goals, that I pride myself on maintaining.

I too, say things as I see them, sometimes publicly, sometimes privately - but first and foremost, I enforce the rules of the site. That's not always a fun job, and when I need to repeately say the same things and take the same actions over and over and over and over - I get worn out and a bit pissed off to be blunt. Daniel most certainly knows better, given he's just come off a 3-month suspension, and I sit here bewildered that I am STILL seeing the very same behaviors that have been demonstrated time and time again over the years, questioning our rules.

I need to chat with Liz, Cathy, Snow, John and John and see what action comes next (yet again for the umteenth time).

I am so sorry for this and hope you'll stay with us and know I am working to maintain the goals above for the betterment of the membership.

Might I interest you in a chat in our chatroom?

Regards,
Lori

Dear friend...

I'm deeply grieved by your response... I HAVE no campaign against this site nor anyone on this site. I love it, and it is my home... and I hope it will remain your home as well.

I'd love for your to repost your limerick... and note that I quite thoroughly responded to it... and humorously referred to it specifically in my response. Believe me it was VERY lightened up. I'm very sorry that somehow I communicated to you the concept that you were being used as some kind of vehicle. If there is anything I can to do dissipate that conception, please let me know.

Also, I hope that you were not implying that I hide behind the anonymity of PMs and emails. Personally, I probably have emailed about four members of this site in the past several months, three of them being Moderators, and I have no means of utilizing PMs. I certainly have NO agenda going on behind the scenes, so if I've somehow given you that impression as well, please forgive me.

I also wrote a limerick response to your fine piece... actually it turned out to be a serious one, but it was stimulated by your piece.

I LOVE the wonderful work that you have been doing on this site. You're a tremendous student of poetry, and I'd love to see many others following your example. You're a consumate study, and I respect that, and quite frankly in awe of it.

deLighting in your respect and your person, Daniel sun.gif

P.S. Lori: I AM NOT QUESTIONING OUR RULES!!! I support them! I'm very sorry that I gave that impression. If there were some way of undoing my words, I'd do it. My words were screened by a Moderator, so it boggles my mind that they were allowed to be posted if I were actually questioning them! I agreed ahead of time that my posts would be screened for that very reason... so how is the onus on me?! I'm really baffled here. Am I allowed to be pissed off too now? It's my understanding that personal attacks upon persons here would not be tolerated! Believe me, I'm feeling attacked now.

Again Sam, I've just read Daniel's edited comment above just now. Love the SHOUT OUTS btw. I don't know what to say except to apologize for your thread being highjacked so Daniel could spit on us, and play mind games. All I can say at this point is no one need worry about any further disruptions on his part. The 10th warning put me over the top.

As a mod, I do NOT screen posts from members on 'mod preview', I don't play those games. People are going to post what they want, who would I be to change their words? So the deed has been done, making me once again look like an ass, for doing nothing more than my ROLE as site admin, moderator and might I mention (Daniel) - site OWNER.

I'd be more than happy to discuss the history of our site with you anytime, just know that Sam - again, apologies for the outbursts that you've had to witness. If you like, I can certainly remove this entire thread if that is your preference - please let me know.

Regards,
Lori

With some little insight gained over the last couple of days, I'll say only that as adults we are left to choose paths. Winds of change touch us all. We can trace unto the barren path, leave the print of invitation, invocation and reparation... or sulley the pike with grevious grudge. I'll remark openly that I have been afforded the utmost courtesy and kindness here. I would hope that I have been as fair in my own assesments. Mosaic Musings will continue. I would wish to see it's continued outreach and growth.

Leave the thread, unchanged, for any who would need reason of me... or you.
