I've been writing poetry (and other things) for 4 years now. I think they're pretty good. But then, I'm biased, aren't I? Some others have said my poems were good and some others that I hoped would say they were good, say nothing. So, I want to see what you say.
And in exchange you'll get my thoughts on your poems. And for whatever other value they may hold for you, may you find my thoughts as pleasing and helpful as I hope to find yours!
Now, let's see; where to begin...?

Hello Dennis. I'd call you Tyger but well..... people might talk! WELCOME TO MM! There's plenty to read and comment on here as you get acclimated to our 'tiles'. I've also been writing for 4 years now myself so there ya go! As we always say here, if you are seeking honest feedback, then you'll find it here. Always remember though, your works are your own and our suggestions are yours to take or toss. If you have any questions, please ask. Cheers ~Cleo

I look forward to your feedback, you seem to have a straight from the hip convo and I welcome that. :)
Best Wishes and as Lori mentions, if there is any questions or any thing you need feel free to contact any of the staff-

Dang! You all form quite a welcoming committee! Thank you very much~! Yes, John, indeed, 'Billy Blake' is a huge influence, both literally and spiritually. It could be said that, if not for him, I wouldn't be posting here today! Thank You Cathy as well. Should be fun, I agree, but where do I get 'hollers' from and how do I get them to you?!? And Liz, Yes, I do have a straight from the heart convo that I hope does sit well with you! I look forward to our interaction! And Cleo the Lioness. A Leo am I! And not prone to sigh over lifes unpredictable fates: Instead I *ROAR* sending trouble out the door laughing at it's fervent gait! My wife, Molly, is a Leo too! So, there's always a lot of roaring, as well as lots of purring, going on around here! And we have two cats Alex and CoCo. And thank you also, mi Lady, Cyn. Dennis!

Well, I must admit, I had no idea who Billy Blake is until John's comment, and I wondered how he could know from the little you shared... but I figured that it must have something to do with the picture... and then I discovered the opening lines of his piece and some of his pictures... and then... well, duh! Amazing what just a little bit of inside information can do. It's kind of like the nuances of some poetry. On the surface it may say one thing, but hidden between the lines are other things that come out if you know the author, the circumstances, the subject, the background, etc. It can become a rather thrilling exercise to do a bit of detective work... and some folks even get carried away and find things that aren't even there (and the author quietly chuckles)! Wow... did I go off on a tangent, or what? All that to say, welcome, Dennis! If ya's been invited by Cyn, you're certainly welcome to me! Lookin' forward ta readin' ya soon... with deLight, Daniel P.S. I started writing some around 1990, but nothing serious till I joined the former PoemKingdom (where I met some of the folks here) back I think in 2001. Online has been all the poetry education I've ever gotten, and my peers have been very generous, as you're about to discover yourself!

Thank You, Daniel! I'm certainly no William Blake, but maybe one day, like him, the things I write now will mean something to someone later. Tangenital musings are a great intro, BTW, and I agree that subtleties are what make Life and Love (and their companion, poetry) so very interesting! Just for fun, I wrote this one day, with apologies to William Blake. Tyger, tyger a dreadful sight In his postings of the night- What distorted hand or eye Could frame this appalling poetry? From what twisted, deepning skies Came this poet’s atrocious cries On what wings dare he aspire? I would his hands all burn with fire! Wrote with his shoulder, this is not art! In the twisted recesses of his heart! Would that his heart cease to beat Or I hear the sound of retreating feet! Take to it a hammer! Beat it with a chain! Throw it in the furnace, with his brain Look an anvil! Beat it fast Before my mind in terror collapse! When the poet’s wept their tears And swore to never write for years Did he smile his work to see Could he wrote this stuff be me? Tyger tyger a dreadful sight! In his postings of the night! What distorted hand or eye Dare frame this appaling poetry! So, don't take me to seriously!

I love the humor of it, Dennis... so why not throw it out in Hermes for us take a few bytes out of it, let you putty it back in, sand it some, paint it, frame it, and hang it on the wall of your den! Stalk in, roar... and pounce! deLightin' in the prospect, Daniel

HA, HA, Hey, Dennis, That's a good new version. Not toooooooo sure about the symmetry. Buttt your poem is sure enteeeeeeertainin. Your right about William Blake. This a wonderful poem. Not tiger- The Tyger. That for a start is brilliant. Another wonderful poem is: The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson. He clasps the crag with hooked hands: Close to the sun in lonely lands, Ringed in the azure world, he stands. The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls; He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls. Mate, this poem makes my hair (well what i've got left) stand on end. I like your Avatar It looks like a wise old male tyger. John

QUOTE I like your Avatar It looks like a wise old male tyger. *Grrrrrrrrrrr* ~GROWL~ *grrrr* Translation: Thank you, John! And thanks for reminding me about Tennyson's poem. Haven't remembered that one in quite a while! And Daniel, I'll be posting something soon enough that you can sink your teeth into! (and chew and spit out and say "Blech! Blech!") Dennis!
