People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Hi Lori,

Did you write this? ... This brought goosebumps and tears - and a movie picture through my mind of those who meet each and every one of those points. This is something I would like hanging on my wall ...

No - sorry I cannot take credit for this - only to share it with all of you. It is profound. A dear friend of mine sent it to me the day after my surgery last year and I refer to it often.

Life lessons...... I love these tidbits to ponder!

Hey Lori!

I've passed over this many times without a second glance until today. I'm glad I stopped in to read it this time. It's wonderful and a unique way to think of all the people we meet in life. I've only one problem... there's one person that I can think of that doesn't seem to fit into any of the three categories! LOL It's probably been 3 years and I still haven't figured out the how or why of it all. Maybe I'm not meant to, ya think?

Reads like it came from an inspirational publication. Everything cut and dried by the numbers like a twelve-step program. Too bad the source isn't known, but it certainly is worth sharing.

I'm not sure who wrote this and on an extensive trip around the internet, found many sites (most of them inspirational/caregiver/self-help sites) with articles by various site administrators. Most of them said "Author Unknown", some were trying to claim it as their work and a few noted it was from an original idea by Jean Dominque Martin while a couple of them had the author as Brian Andrew Chalker. Still unsure of the real source of this inspirational piece. The last part was left off your post or, it wasn't a part that your friend sent to you. It is a beautifully written introspective article which is appropriate in many venues.

Here is the last part of the article:

PRAYER:
May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.
Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, and to bask in the sun.
It is there for each and every one of you.
