May your life be merry, may your load be light:
may your joys be many, and your future bright.
May the road be smooth, for those you know,
and may you find true friends, where'er you go.
To those folks we love so much - let’s raise a glass,
and pray sincerely, that Peace soon comes to pass,
and towards this end, may your voice be raised.
As for friends we’ve made on MM - Heaven be praised!
Let's keep the poems coming: let the comments fly.
For the solemn, comic, or inane, we’ll laugh or cry!
Whether we voice opinion or indulge in idle chatter,
your opinion concerns us greatly, so continue to natter.
Whilst there's the Internet, and we can keep in touch,
whether we write and post frequently, or not very much,
the camaraderie to be enjoyed here, is second to none!
Now I say to One and All - and I'll bet you're glad I'm done?
Here’s wishing you, A Very Happy, Prosperous and Peaceful New Year.

What a lovely piece to start the New Year! I seem to be missing out on many of your poems.
Thanks so much for sharing such beautiful thoughts for MM members, as well as family and friends.

Indeed, Denis, I've certainly raised my glass (of special Argentine wine), so that Peace soon comes to pass. We really need to pray sincerely for that. Everywhere, wars, famine and worse things are happening, especially to children, women and elderly people. I believe it's plain greed for wealth and power. Absolute indifference to life, love and peace. Fencing.gif

This poem shows values that appear to have been lost. Thanks so much, Denis, for offering us this poem, your voice in protest poetry.

Wishing you a peaceful and loving New Year,

The Lord replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

"There is no life higher than the grasstops
Or the hearts of sheep, and the wind
Pours by like destiny, bending
Everything in one direction."

Sylvia Plath, Crossing the Water, Wuthering Heights.
