Bolivia, 2012
for Eloy Anello, in memoriam

left behind--
it was the distance
of your corpse
that drilled a hole
where there was you

it was imagining
an unimaginable voyage--
my Ulysses
without a body
without an Ithaca

it was that unspoken
weather
that we refer to when
there is no more speech
nor comfort in our dwelling

it was me
not knowing what body
you took
in my dreams--
me, desiring more than a vision

it was not wanting closure
a simple memory
the going-away of your voice
your eyes
the warmth of your arms

WOW - I really liked this Sergio - it's a great tribute - I confess to ignorance of this gentleman but your poem inspired me to go and find out. He certainly appears to have been a man of greatness and an inspirational person.

Sergio, as usual, your poems open up unexplored territories to me.

I've just spent about half-an-hour reading up about Eloy Anello, as well as about the Bahá'í Faith. Most interesting.

Of course, I'm especially attracted to the need for Moral Leadership among our world leaders and politicians. That's a big issue, indeed.

I didn't know so many lovely temples have been constructed around the world for the Bahá'í Faith, despite it's being a relatively new religion. In the U.S.A., Norway, Latin America and so on..

Sorry, I'll have to return to re-read your tribute to this true friend of yours.
Your 'anhelo' for Anello. Nostalgic verses.

I spent too much time investigating!

Thank you, Sergio, for this.

Sylvia

The Lord replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

"There is no life higher than the grasstops
Or the hearts of sheep, and the wind
Pours by like destiny, bending
Everything in one direction."

Sylvia Plath, Crossing the Water, Wuthering Heights.
