God, A philisophical and meta-physical question. Options

God

I have heard all kinds of people say,
including priests, ministers, imam and rabbi.
That God is in everything ~

Everything, everything... like rocks, trees,
stars, food, water, birds and bees.
Does that include the meta-physical concepts
as heaven and hell? My next door neighbor's dog,
the worm the fish takes as I catch it for my supper?

So if He is in everything and everyone,
and everything is in me and I am someone,
am I not then God?

Good question. Robert Heinlein had his hero in Stranger In A Strange Land start a new religion, in which the greeting is "Thou art God".

A concept I can easily agree with. Each of us continuously creates his own universe.

OMG, religion! I should run away from this topic, as from politics.

God is everywhere, not in everything, especially not flora & fauna...LOL....you're an animist, Steve, I like that! I too believe in a living Earth, like James Lovelock, of Gaia fame.

But christians would say you're a pagan -horrid word! You're supposed to find the inner Teacher (Jesus) inside you, yes, but that's his Holy Spirit that'll show you the way to heaven...

I think you're mixing up physics & religion. We certainly all share our atoms, which were cooked in faraway stars. Isn't that fanastic!

I like your poem, Steve, but I shan't return coz my principle is to shut up on these matters...and I haven't, g'damn it.

Alan, Yes I 'grok', read that book many,many years ago...I just saw a news interview and the actor is going to narrate the 10 venues on physics etc the first program is 'Is there a supreme being' when asked the actor said that in his humble opinion he was God, but the way it was stated I thought it was done very well and thats when I came up with this...Thanks for reading and your kind words.

Sylvia, sorry I am not an animist, I meant for the word to be everywhere, everything everyone....and if God is supposed to be everywhere does than not include plants animals minerals etc? I don't usually take a stance on any thing religious, and this isn't really a stance it is more of just a question? I don't wish to argue religion in any way shape or format...not at all. It was just my way of asking and writing the poem. If asked I usually tell people that I am agnostic. Or if I feel full of humor I tell them I am rastafarian. I was just reading about scientist that are saying there is too much order out in the universe for it to be just random chaos, and they are starting to say there must be something that is causing this order...so who knows.I like the statement that Arthur Clarke said that 'Any technology that we can not understand is the same as magic' So the hypothesis is if we finally understand the universe in a couple of thousand years won't we be as Gods?
Sorry if this gets too deep, just things that have run around in my head for years, part of the price I pay for reading so much.

This is an interesting one - funny but I started writing a religous poem too , but didn't get far as it sounded 'rubbish!' LOL!

Well this certainly isn't rubbish - well thought out! I don't think there is need to change anything, but here are a few thoughts to ponder anyway.

God

Eira, thanks for reading and the kind words. Yea maybe one or two too many will change that in revision. I was just following the line started by watching that news program and following it out logically or at least to me it seemed logical. But you can do most anything and twist it round with logic. Like the following two true statements and the strange third logical ending.

No cat has eight tails. True
All cats have one more tail than no cat. True
Therefor all cats have nine tails. Hmmm wait a minute.

G'day mate.

This afternoon, A bird flew into my study window. Bang!

When I picked the poor bird up its body was still warm; its head lolled back (broken).

I tried heart massage. Of no use.

The poor little creature had a fine line of blood on its beak.

I shed a few tears. My wife (Pam) was standing beside me placed her gentle hand in mine.

And said. "Don't cry, this is life."


So Steve here is your God.

God = existence.

I really love this and the responses show that it has everyone thinking and responding beautifully too...very deep thinking...this poem really stays with you (in a good way!)

I love how you move from the "metaphysical concepts" to the everyday sights and sounds that are parts of all of our existences and really love how you end it...excellent twist:)
