Hi Larry,
I was listening on TV about Mathew's wrath these past few days. I do hope your area of Louisiana has not been badly hit again. It said something about this hurricane heading out to sea, but that can always change.
And yes, the weather is behaving catastrophically all over the world. But our leaders just seem to continue warfaring and/or polluting Earth with more pesticides and fertilizers bought from Monsanto. Etc.
Your sonnet is a sad expression of what's going on right now. I'll return to read it again when I feel less glum. The fact that you write such lovely poems about the devastation that's going on, only makes me feel awful tonight. Sorry!!
Cheers, Syl

What man has done and will do to Mother Earth could be the cause of all the terrible storms, floods and catastrophes we are currently seeing around the world. This is my view of the latest flood in S. E. Louisiana which caused devastation across 26 parishes.
Kismet
As Gaia’s tears descended from dark eyes
to ease her burning wrath; she wished to cleanse
her face with rivers which began to rise
and wash away some unforgiven sins.
Now ghosts, cadavers of each memory
lie moldering by streets and country roads
to rot within the piles of life’s debris.
Cold empty shells that once were fine abodes
have been eviscerated and death’s reek
will permeate the air in neighborhoods
where children played. Their families must seek
some solace from the loss of earthly goods.
Each time, with lessons learned, we’ll not retrace
the scars we leave upon our mother’s face.
