Gift

Some say love is a gift,
given as if by a stranger.
No summer day full of flying gulls
with feathers drifting down.
Nor winter fields
filled with glistening snow.
Could ever give the feeling in your heart
that the shy smile of one who loves; can.

A gift of love fills up the days and nights
of years to come.
No shallow shoals, shores, sands
or reefs of indifference,
mar the way.

Yes love is a gift.
