Congratulations on your Silver placement Sylvia! I found this tale totally facinating and original. I was so captivated by your word choices and found myself laughing out loud at some of your descriptions. Like the way Fernando classified the players in his crawly collection. ie, " his categories went from prime ministers, press magnates, royalty, popes, geeks, airheads, movie and rock stars, to call girls, gigolos, pin-jabbers, pimps and jockers." How in the world did you come up with these? The're absolutly brilliant! And Brilliant is the way I'd describe your whole unique tale. I thouroghly enjoyed every word. Thanks so much for providing such a wonderful read. Love ya, Chris |

Hi Ladies!
Thanks so much to all of you for popping in and offering your congratulations. I really appreciate all of your comments and warm wishes. :lovie:
Yes, this poem was written with a poster from PK in mind. LOL! Liz, Cathy, do you remember a poster by the name of 'Claw'? He was always joking around about wearing a French Maid costume, and one day surprised us all by saying that he was changing into his Mistress La Lash costume. At the time, it really tickled my funny bone and my muse, so this poem was the result of that. I had a great deal of fun writing it and glad that it brought a smile to everyone. I never did find out if Claw had ever read it, or not? Also posted it here several years ago, in response to Arnfin's, "A Bawdy Night At Camelot".
Thanks again everyone. I feel very honored to have won this award. :king:
Hugs, Chris :wizard: |

Hey there Lady!
Wow, two awards! :hsdance: Both very well deserved. :sun:
I enjoyed this one very much! The idea of the wind being like a Puma is so intreguing to me. Your choice words always inspire me and leave me with an awesome appreciation of you talent. They seem to flow effortlessly across the page, weaving vivid pictures, and with this one even sound and smell! Those can be very hard to project and you did it masterfully :sings:
Well done Slyvia, and Congratulations!
Love ya, Chris :wizard: |

Hi Sylvia, and Congratulations!
"How could I once believe that there were no legends other than mine, or that no lips could sing of riches nurtured by spirits of sky and rock, as here I stood on a land whose wounds bled from lances driven into the virgin Earth, that my own God could never heal?"
Wonderful summation of this conscience pricking piece! This is so powerful! Your words paint a very vivid and visual portrayal of the European race that came to the Amercias. Makes me cringe with regret at our ancestors.
This is quite like the descriptions and songs of the North American Natives as well. Or I could say Native peoples everywhere, when large groups of foreign people invade their lands, slowing displacing the sacred cultures of other races and creeds, leaving behind distant shadows and echoes of those who were there in the beginning.
I enjoyed this very much Slyvia. {{hugs}} Your fabulous word choices wove a vivid mind scape, where each word became a reality and swam before my eyes and touched my soul.
Congratulations again Sylvia. A very worthy submission in deed!
Love ya, Chris |

Hi Cynthia!
Congratulations on your award!
Wow, what a powerful piece! The emotion it conveys grabs and squeezes the heart of this reader, leaving me breathless and full of sorrow for the choices that had to be made.
I very much enjoyed the way you seperated your thoughts throughout this work. 1, 11, 111, 1V, as if compartmentalizing the steps that your mind went through when dealing with the shock of the news, and then going on to cope and deal with such tragedy and mental anguish. An anguish that never goes away, but hopefuly is softened over time.
I really enjoyed this piece although it did make me cry, but cry with tears of understanding and empathy, and admiration for those who cope with tragedy such as this, and come out the other side whole, and strong.
This is a wonderful and beautiful piece Cynthia. Thank you so much for penning it and sharing it with us.
Love ya, Chris |

Hi Lori,
Stay in and cozy by the fire if you can. Sounds like a good day for snuggling. I'm hoping that you have a back up source of heat....? Just in case.

Hi Kenneth,
It's very nice to meet you! I very much enjoyed this write of yours. You've gotten alot of excellent advice so won't get into the technicality of your poem. Just wanted to say that I experienced the same first thought as Sylvia when I read it and couldn't decide if the narrator was male or female. Of course it was made obvious by the title, but it went right over my head.
I did understand the word, "affect". A common medical term when evaluating a patient. Many may not use it in everyday speech but I think it works well here. Maybe a {,} after affect? Making it read "affect, concentration?". Or saying {his} affect{,}concentration? Making it read like this...
"If I scream will you keep reading Sartre? Or stop, startled, to stare; dog-eared pages and glasses tipped low, {his} affect{,} concentration?"
Very much enjoyed this, as all the words and meanings were very strong, grabbing the readers attention and conveying the isolation and frustration of the woman quite well.
As a woman, I can relate to this poem. Thanks for the read, and well done!
Best regards, Chris [s] |

The Song Of Mistress La Lash
Come over here and kiss me. Slide your fingers through my hair. Look into my eyes and say how much you really care
Wrap your arms around me; trail your hands along my spine, brush your silky lips upon each eye and tell me I'm sublime.
Let me feel you quiver, as I'm held in your embrace, then drop upon one knee and say, you've finally learned your place.
When you have pleased my passions, and shown me your respect, I'll reward your meager efforts with the treat that you expect.
I'll give you what you really want, the pleasure mixed with pain... . But the truth of your humility will bring me wealth and fame.
There are many like you, who keep secret their desires. They all come to have me fan, those smokey hidden fires.
They come here domineering, but I teach them to submit, and when they finally leave me, they have a smile upon their lips.
When next you come to visit, know that your secrets I will keep. Just put some money by the lash, and place a kiss upon my feet. |

Dear Snow,
I'm so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Such hard and sad times for you. Yet.... I imagine you are a mixed bag of emotions right now. Missing your Mom, grieving her passing, yet .. as you mentioned, not seeing her sink deeper into the well of Alzhiemers is a blessing for both you and her..
I understand your feelings all to well. Although my mother didn't have Alzheimers, she was ill for 12 yrs. with a chronic, terminal disease. She lived with us for the last 4 yrs. of her illness and passed in my arms.
You will miss your Mother for ever. I still think of my Mom daily. Yet, am grateful for everything she taught me. I still remember some of my baby time, and the love she gave me throughout her life. I know you will remember these things about your mother too. Our parents teach us to be strong, to love each other and to prepare for their's and our own passing.
Keep her love, all the happy memories, and all of her life lessons in your heart. They are her essence and her legacy for you. She loved you, and wanted the best for you. Carry and pass on this legacy.
Bless you and know that my prayers are for you at this time.
Love, Chris |

So glad to see you back! {{hugs}} I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing. Add a couple of these to your collection. You can never have to much chocolate! or , or , or , or !!!! LOL!
Argh!!! I hear you about talking like a pirate! LOL! I've been doing it ever since our boat trip last Summer. Arghhhhhhhhh! We had a great time plundering on the West Coast. Even found a little shop in Seattle that has nothing but pirate stuff! Who'd have thunk it?
My muse has been on serious strike, but I do pop in to read allot and comment occasionally, so I'm really looking forward to seeing your royal presence here at MM!
Love you Neff! It's so good to see back. :pharoah2
