"STING-A-LING-LING"

The treacherous trader, Love,
is offering to do a deal for gifts
only men of a trivial world can furnish,
but Death was wanting more, much more.

Mockers and despisers will crawl
all over these journalistic words,
for contempt and compassion
are strange bedfellows only they can encompass.

From the men, the gifts were five,
but Love has had them all before,
and routinely broken all but one;
that was precious, beyond compare.

Death, his dander up, furious
at the wanton insult of such a rejection,
marks the beginning of the end
of Love’s unequal trade with a snarl;

for Love knows man’s soul, something indefinable
that steeps in dreamless and enduring truth,
is beyond his reach, even beyond the realm
of this grimmest of opponents, the reaper Death .....

"The Reckoning" by Cleo_Serapis

In the dawn of the Reckoning, all but one that was precious shall survive. It was the way of things. It was how it had always been. Or was it? Who is to say what is the beginning of the end?

As the sun rose in all her glory, so too did the minions of demise. The creatures of the wood stirred while the weeping willows whispered once more, “Take cover, my children…take cover!” Woodchucks, squirrels, chipmunks, moles and all other furries took cover under the protection of the mighty Oak and Maple as did all the insects and other wiggly beings. “Scurry along, little ones, there is little time left!” Chimed the eldest of the World. “We have room for all in our home!”

Bear befriended Wolf: Wolf took in Coyote, who in turn shared dens with Hyena. Panther, Leopard, Lion, and Tiger too made room for contempt and compassion in their places of dwelling in the final hour. In spite of their dubious efforts to come together as the One had forewarned, the wanton insult of uniqueness had no place in the Old World. Or did it?

Canary sang a chirpy tune with Blues, Reds and all other colors of the rainbow, making a fine home in the loft of their new surroundings. All had done so with the best intention of drowning out the minions of Water and Destruction. Rooster, Hen, Pig, Goat and Lamb made due with the beds of hay and obeyed their master, the One. Cow and Horse even managed to ride out the storm with a few minor nibbles and nips albeit as tamed as were possible. “Do NOT eat of this hay, my creatures, for we have a long journey ahead!” The Chosen One would chide them in the days of darkness. It was his way, the way as told to him it must be.

His People eventually learned the ways of turning nothing into something through faith and compassion. In the company of all His creatures, a valuable lesson was taught and in time, peace prevailed over one and all. But death was wanting…

In the evening of the fortieth, Oil flirted with Fire when Water heaved ho, sending all Creatures into a spiral that steeps in dreamless and enduring. When all hope seemed lost, something amazing happened! All People and Creatures tossed their petty differences aside and together they commenced a campaign to stampede the End, and His minions of demise. It was in that moment, the God of Light showed of Himself, and so too, did the God of Land. Together, all creatures of the Old World emerged from the Ark, which had been settled onto the New World, bringing with them, their own salvation.

The gifts were five: Life, Love, Unity, Spirit and Faith. In the New World, the salvation of a trivial world can furnish each other in times of the Reckoning.
