The bag of salt was heavy on his back,
but loyal was that mule, despite the weight.
Across the stream the donkey's foot would lack
a proper purchase. Dunking donkey'e freight.
The salt dissolved, the load reduced, the beast
began to figger how to lighten lading.
To master now, his profit is decreased
and so, he buys e'en more to suit his trading.
A second slippage in that stream again
will lighten mulish load and can you guess?
A slip, a dip that mule once more would feign...
But master, now express your great distress!
The cargo next, he'd choose a load of sponge.
But mules are only asses as to brain
and so, how heavy aft' the repeat plunge!
To ass, or mule, or donkey- great disdain.
