The Winner of our Third annual Mosaic Musings Holiday Classic has been chosen! holly.gif dove.gif blueorn.gif

Here is what the Sollars family had to say as they chose the winner from the finalists:

A direct quote as follows from Butch aka Charon.....

We have reviewed and decided on a winner. We rated the poems from favorite to least and then assigned them point values – no one knowing what others have selected:

Our selection for third place: A tie – A Wish is Born and Christmas in Kalonwood.

Our selection for second place: A Peaceful Eve
I really loved the rhyming scheme in this one.

And this year’s 2006 winner (which got the most first place votes): Red Christmas by Marcia.
It really made every one of us chuckle.

All entries were very good and we thank everyone for entering. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

Peace to all.

The Sollars Family

CONGRATULATIONS to Blank_Canvas aka Marcia for winning our third MMHC! May your holidays be memorable... Reindeer.gif Snowflake.gif

CONGRATS TO MARCIA for her winning entry, "Red Christmas" in our third annual Mosaic Musings Holiday Classic! cheer.gif

Red Christmas

Santa walks out to inspect his sleigh;
gives out a bellow and gasp of dismay.
Who was in charge of maintenence here?
This hasn't been serviced in nearly a year !

The seats are all dusty with last year's debris.
The runners are rusty...now that just can't be.
The paint needs a touch-up; must look shiny and new.
Who's been neglectful ? Better not have been you !

The elves are in panic, cuz' this is a shame.
There's going to be trouble, no matter the blame.
All the toys are constructed, built strong and fine;
they're already bagged to be loaded on time.

The reindeer are rested, and rarin' to go.
The holiday will be here in a mere day or so.
A check of the duty list explains who was rotten.
The assignment of sleigh care was left off, forgotten !

The repairs on the sled are made with great speed.
You can accomplish a lot when there is a need.
The elves worked together to get the job done....
The sleigh now looks wonderful; ready to run.

When you see Santa this year on his rounds...
You'll notice his red face to be quite profound !
It is embarrassment that makes him so red.
The duty roster assignment was a function he led !
