Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blogWe headline in our first section, News at Eleven, with the story of blogger Zaur Qurbanli imprisoned because he objected to a poem. We have three articles around that one story, two from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and another from Amnesty International. I object to his imprisonment, and freely blog about it.
We end, in our last section, Poetic Obituaries, with the death of poet Nguyen Chi Thien who spent 27 years in prison for letting the truth out. Five articles surround this story, one each from Los Angeles Times, Radio Free Asia, New York Times, Huffington Post, and The Age, each tribute written and published such that we may discern the truth and continue to.
In between are dozens more articles, some terrific interviews, reviews, essays on poets, by poets, and poems, from a remarkable week for poetry in the news.
Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
