I figure Queen in "Snow White" is a Disney thing and he never scared kids like Stephan King.
The wicked witch of "Hansel and Gretel" is just your typical forest dweller that helps parents teaching kids not to cross the street alone.
The Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz" is your average next-door-neighbor that hates dogs.
The stepmother in "Cinderella" is the meany of all time. I bet she would make children today do their homework before TV. After all, there isn't any charcoal to handle anymore.

The Wicked Witch of the East and West were the worst, as they are symbolic of the corruption of the gold seekers and bearers of the West and the money hungry business capitalists of the East, respectively.
One must read up on the Wizard of Oz and discover its true hidden secrets. Especially those among us that are Democrats.
Did you not know the real Wizard of Oz was Grover Cleveland?
That the Emerald City was actually Washington, D.C.?
There is a reason Omaha appears on the baloon?
Did you also know it was really silver slippers and not ruby slippers?
The others are fairy tales, the Wizard of Oz is a true story. Very scary.
Still one of my favorite all time movies.
We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

I agree, that witch (we can call her one too) in "Cinderella" takes the prize! :medusa:
I'm certain acros the world there really are people just like her, letting their envy rule, instead of their heart (if they have one) - ah but that is in The Wizard of Oz....
Anyway - about that coal - no kidding, Peter and I found some in the Hallmark store Friday night at the checkout counter... 
That outa make for a fun stocking stuffer! :xmas:

:oops: :upside: Yes - one of my favorite movies of all time - I should dust off the dvd and have a watch one of these days! I keep spending my free time on the chapbook project.... Once completed, I shall have to slowwwwww downnnnnnn and read more too! :detective:

There were two things that scared the wadding out of me when I was a young tyke watching these movies on the big screen at the Trail Theatre in Old St. Joe. Those two were:
In Fantasia - the black creature at the end from the pit of hell. He looks like a gargoyle.
And the witch in Sleeping Beauty. I was afraid of her voice for the longest time. And she turns into a Dragon. Which was still scary even when it was dead.

I was petrified of the Wolf in the "Song of the South" at least I think it was a wolf? For YEARS, I had the same recurring nightmare about a wolf chasing me down an OK Coral type street with tumbleweeds too, lol!

Hmmmm, I concede defeat. I knew not the underpinnings of The Wizard of Oz. One should also keep in mind that its author was very socialistic in a capitalistic environment. Please note that the last age of enlightenment came about by motivation of Mammon countering stagnation of divisive churches. Although, we say money is the root of all evil, it is not true. It is a universal currency of exchange allowing a freer modern interface. California gold rush accelerated USA expansion. Easterners financed most of our westward movement as individuals more often than not falsely believed they were escaping strictures of society.
Most people today can be counted upon to jump for bigger buck. Greed and avarice are simplistic words for complex reasoning such as a longer, healthier life.
Fairy tales more often than not have factual foundations. Fantastic aspect is sugar coating for palatable consumption.
I am so glad my flip judgements kicked the ball into motion.
