Hello.

Since there are so very many fixed forms of poetry available to express ourselves, we want to limit this forum to those forms that do not exceed 7 lines in length. As to the particulars, participation rules here are consistent with the other poetry forums at MM: 1:2:2 - post today, not tomorrow - one poem per topic, give 2 crits to other poems, wait 2 days before posting again.

I've taken the liberty of writing down all the 'short forms' that I am familiar with below. Please DO post any other short forms that you know and let us know so we can add them to this list.

Ae freislighe ~ 4 lines
Atarlis Fileata ~ 7 lines
Cinquain ~ 5 lines
Clerihew ~ 4 lines
Dodoitsu ~ 4 lines
faux-ku ~ 4 lines
Haiku ~ 3 lines
Hay(na)ku ~ 3 lines
Lanturne ~ 5 lines
Limerick ~ 5 lines
Lira ~ 5 lines
Quintine ~ 5 lines
Sedoka ~ 6 lines
Septolet ~ 7 lines
Senryu ~ 3 lines
Sevenling ~ 7 lines
Shadorma ~ 6 lines
Sijo ~ 3 to 6 lines
Tanka ~ 5 lines
Tetractys ~ 5 lines

Enjoy!

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.

Hi Daniel,

A good addition to the list. If you don't mind, I added a link for those who would like to learn more about it.

Best Regards, Liz
