Hi.

Two of the features I've enabled on the forum is both an email validation and an admin validation for newbie registrations.

The following is the blurb you will see in the email validation itself:

You have received this email because this email address
was used during registration for our forums.
If you did not register at our forums, please disregard this
email. You do not need to unsubscribe or take any further action.

We require that you "validate" your registration to ensure that
the email address you entered was correct. This protects against
unwanted spam and malicious abuse.

To activate your account, simply click on the following link:

(AOL Email users may need to cut and paste the link into your web
browser).

Not working?

If you could not validate your registration by clicking on the link, please
visit this page:

{A link will be displayed here}

It will ask you for a user id number, and your validation key. These are shown
below:

User ID: {xxx}

Validation Key: {xxx}

Please cut and paste, or type those numbers into the corresponding fields in the form.

If you still cannot validate your account, it's possible that the account has been removed.
If this is the case, please contact an administrator to rectify the problem.

Once you've clicked the validation link provided in the above email, you'll be sent to our forum board and will then receive the following message:

QUOTE

Registration Process:
Thank you {member name}. Your registration has been successful. The administrator wishes to preview all new registered accounts before posting permissions are granted. The administrator has been notified of your registration.

Once an admin has approved the account, you will then be sent another email as follows;

QUOTE

Success!

An administrator has accepted your registration request or email address change at Mosaic Musings...interactive poetry reviews. In October, we added a new step in the new member validation process by enabling an Admin Approval step before newbies can begin posting at MM.

I've just updated the above topic with this added information.

As always, please email me should you have any questions at lkanter@mosaicmusings.net or cleo_serapis@yahoo.com.

These precautions are in place to prevent the hackers of the world that write code to troll sites looking for those forums that do not require validation steps, access. This works well for MM as they even if they provide a valid email and click that email validation link, they still must go through the admin validation, and we have a good idea of who these programmers are. Of course, there are REAL people that do this too, and we certainly do our best to ban then once they start posting non-poetry workshopping related topics.
