Unimpeachable

Yes, our President Trump is a sleaze,
just as Clinton, recall, if you please,
but he doesn't have suave
to apply as a salve
so impeaching him's done with a breeze

not because we've uncovered some facts
but from digging out dirt from the cracks:
repeat, "crimes, misdemeanors"
with stiffened demeanor
feeding media's daily attacks.

Clinton, Kennedy, Trump low on morals
yet each of them's earned many laurels
'cause each presidency
helped to set many free
and has hundreds of choirs singing chorals.

Since they'll not vote him out, clear the slate
will they next pay to kill him with hate?

My arbitrary designation "Limerick Sonnet" is a three-limerick series followed by a limerick-cadence couplet.

Love it, Daniel!
Of course, I'm an independent voter and have no party loyalty, thank god. In fact, I'm all through voting for these disappointing candidates. It's hopeless, and I'll just resign myself to that. Good job Daniel. Take care, Jerry

Though I can understand a person's deciding not to vote, my mind hearkens back to a local election in the 70's in N Wildwood, NJ. Eileen and I had decided who we were going to vote for for each of the offices, and we got a visit from a member of our congregation with one of the Councilman candidates who lived down the street from us. After a lengthy visit, we were convinced that he was the best candidate, so we switched our votes. As it turned out, he ended up winning by three votes... which means that he would have LOST by ONE VOTE had he not visited our home and discussed his candidacy. In effect OUR VOTES had given him the victory.

So, voting counts!

Deftly written Limerick Sonnet, Daniel. A lot of work went in there and I think it's brilliant.
I'm also sick of all politicians, but I do vote. Sadly, it's nearly always been for the least bad one.
Bring on more, happy holidays and good health, Sylvia claps.gif cheer.gif

The Lord replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

"There is no life higher than the grasstops
Or the hearts of sheep, and the wind
Pours by like destiny, bending
Everything in one direction."

Sylvia Plath, Crossing the Water, Wuthering Heights.

Thank you so much, Sylvia. This was my first "limerick sonnet"... which seemed to be a good medium for this particular subject. Thank you for appreciating it. Yes, politics is a nasty bunch of garbage, and I don't take too many politicians seriously. I am an independent who usually votes for the conservative candidate, but when Eileen and I became poll workers for the elections, we had to join a party, so we're technically Republicans because of having to declare a party. There's one local politician whom I've always voted for as a Democrat because I appreciate his taking care of folks in South Jersey and because of his stance on Mental Health issues and his personal ethics. It's interesting that presently he refused to vote for the impeachment, and he's now switching parties, which both surprised and pleased me. That kind of thing doesn't happen much these days.

I hope you got my private message. I did appreciate learning more about your life. deLighting to share with you, Daniel sun.gif

Never got down to commenting again. Right now, I'm disgusted with about 99% of politicians. Prefer to appreciate your Sonnet Limerick, not argue about politics or religion, for that matter.
I do think you should copyright your work, just as Lori should claim as her own the Swap Quatrain.
Argentina has now swung to the populist extreme, not at all to my liking. Each new government blames the previous one for all the ills of the country. Our neighbouring countries have their troubles, but mainly new governments stick to the previous one's commitments. We mess everything up.
Way to go, hope your health is now good and that 2020 is fantastic for you and Elaine, plus all the family.
Best wishes, Sylvia

Thank you so much for your good wishes for me and Eileen and the family. Currently I'm looking to find a part-time job to relieve some of our financial concerns, but we're not in any trouble. Just looking to the future.

Daniel,
Well done and very topical, you didn't spare the rod and therefore it had more of a sarcastic bite to it.
