Nature’s Concerto

Awakened by the orchestra as dawn
chased shadows of the night across the stage
where instruments were tuned. The curtain drawn,
revealed the players who would soon engage

in morning’s symphony. It was as though
they’d waited for an audience to start
a musical concert. A soft cello
began its melody that touched the heart

and lead into a contrapuntal score
of sweet cacophony. Each lyric phrase
was met with dissonance; one might implore
extended practices in coming days

but with the birds and bees… their voices raised
to greet each day is only to be praised.

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Beautiful sonnet in spite of what it eerily put me in mind (and you know my mind) of.

Hello Larry;
it's about 4:30 A.M. in my time zone, and nature's concert is about to begin under the baton of my resident mockingbird. A chorus of white-winged doves is already chiming in. An enjoyable read, flawlessly executed, in my opinion.

It is a poem’s absolute perfection that can lead to its imperfection.
