Impossible

With an emerald bow you might wrap
cinnamon ornaments like a cap
but to simmer that scent
from a berry or mint
you must sing drinking from a beer tap.

words used: emerald, bow, wrap, cinnamon, ornament, simmer, scent, berry, sing, tap

You have done the impossible thing
sewing words in and out on the wing
like the bard that you are
who has come from afar
just to give us a taste of the spring.

I might give you a taste of the Spring
but I don’t have the extra to bring;
we get ours piece by piece
and I doubt an increase
is enough to disguise Winter’s sting.

Winter's sting has disguised it enough,
so please don't go outside in the buff
just because the sun's out;
you will freeze, without doubt,
and your time spent in bed could be rough.

If time spent in your bed’s not enough
then I think you are playing too rough
before you go to sleep;
start real slow, do not leap
or your wife will go off in a huff.

If your wife has gone off in a huff
then you likely should not try to buff
her back-side with a brush;
just start out with a hush
and a spoon; that should be just enough.

Posted by: Larry Feb 11 18, 00:09

It’s enough to start out with a spoon
but a fork and a knife are a boon
with a breakfast in bed
for your sweet wife who’s fed
you for years; she just might change her tune.

Posted by: JustDaniel Feb 12 18, 10:15

If your wife changes tunes while in bed
she has grabbed your remote off instead
of complaining to you
that your music is blue
so she plays what rings well in her head.

Posted by: Larry Feb 12 18, 15:10

While she plays with her ring, in her head
she envisions big diamonds instead
of the thin band of gold
but she’s always been told
rocks are nice but you have to make bread.

If you make bread to get your rocks off
did proctologist tell you to cough
when you sought his advice?
Did you ask him his price?
I would guess he did no more than scoff.

He did more than just scoff I would guess
when he saw I was in such a mess;
he prognosticated
I’d soon be belated
so go find a good priest and confess.

I confess that I'm missing you, man!
Can't believe that there's been such a span
since you came back and played.
See how Sylvia's displayed
her word-play... not bad for a wo-man!

Posted by: Larry Nov 13 19, 14:37

For a woman, the word-play’s not bad
and I won’t be a chauvinist cad
that critiques every post
to see who has the most
interesting new thought they might add.

You've not added a thought for some time!
Don't you know that we're missing your rhyme?
Come and play with us here
in Acropolis sphere.
Man, your absence is nearly a crime!
