Christmas is Coming Soon.
An Acrostic.
Carollers singing in the Mall:
Happy to welcome, one and all.
Radiant smiles seen on every face:
Illuminations hung high in place!
Signals of Christmas spirit everywhere;
Tinsel and balloons, Santa in his lair!
Merry shoppers, seen dashing to and fro
Anxiously searching for what they know
Small children are hoping to receive.
In their innocent naivety, children believe
Santa Claus, is the one they perceive
Coming at the midnight hour. The ring
Of Christmas Bells, when rung, bring
Many to pray for peace, in the coming year.
Is it to be achieved, or be again as many fear,
Nothing but a pipe dream that does not last!
Gone and forgotten, once Christmas is past.
Such celebrations as Christmas Day
Offer hope. Such is the Christian way!
On this festive Day, wish Goodwill to all men.
Now comes the New Year! Time to say Amen!

Super, Denis.
I always appreciate your rhyming free verse; you do it excellently... and of course you're an acrostic expert as well!
deLighting in your creativity, Daniel
Thanks for your comments folks. It's always most satisfying to know someone enjoys reading what I write. I always enjoy a challenge, and certainly that which an Acrostic presents - no matter what the topic. Often find the silliest thought can trigger one and get me started!
My biggest challenge was writing an acrostic for the poem (complete) of that well known poem By Thomas Edward Brown - My Garden. which begins "A Garden is a Lovesome Thing - God Wot!" A few pages long it proved to be the ultimate challenge I presented myself!
Having great fun with the 6 letter challenge, Daniel - although it would seem you and I are 'hogging' the topic at present! Lol! Always checking to see what you offer for a short, succinct response for the word I offer! Some have proven tough! Have a great day. See you around MM - often I hope. Ciao Denis.
Maybe you could post that poem you mention up in the critique forum, Denis ... even if only for display. I'd love to see it.
... and we're not hogging https://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=6164&st=280&start=280; it's just that we've not aroused anyone's curiosity yet.
You should take a peek at Larry's and my "hogging" the various poetic forms venues in https://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showforum=19! Luce just recently joined us in https://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=1560&st=200&start=200. We have a lot of fun there, and occasionally Alan drops in and surprises us for a while and then disappears again.
Poets are a strange bunch, aren't we?!
deLightingly, Daniel
Hi Daniel,
Decided I'd do just as you suggested. so I have posted my Garden Acrostic in the Karnack's Crossing. Not normally one who puts a lot of my work up for others to read, as I've seen far too much acrimonious commentary, as well as argumentative diatribe between different poets with personalities diametrically opposed to one another. Hope you have fun wading through the many lines and hope it makes some kind of 'sense'? to you. Ciao Denis.
