When poems dance,
a creative mind's floor shakes.

Ooh la la!
Boom, bah boom!
Boom, boom!
Bah boom!

Listen to the rhythm of the words.

Words wildly swish
this way and that,
first over here,
then over there.
Scat, words, scat!

Like ABC's
in vegetable soup,
letters by themselves,
some in a group.

Ooh la la!
Boom, bah boom!
Boom, boom!
Bah boom!

Listen to the rhythm of the words.

Rhymes change.
Rhythms rearrange.
Moods adjust.
Tempo's tamed.

Words just sigh,
often out of breath,
"Ahhh, a second wind-
got a hold of myself!"

Get up, words!
Come on!
Let's dance!
Time to create
new-word romance,
never-used phrases,
brand new rhymes.

You know you're
having a grand old time!
Let's go to a place
we've never been.
Get up, words!
Let's do it again!

Listen to the rhythm of the words.

Ooh la la!
Boom, bah boom!
Boom, boom!
Bah boom!

Listen to the rhythm of the words.

What is that?
What do you hear?

Your mind's floor is...what?
...shakin', you say?

Ooh la la!
Boom, boom!
Bah boom!

What a chance you'll be takin'
when poems dance today,
when poems dance today,
when poems dance today!

Jan,
can we do this to the cha-cha-cha. This is pure musioetry. Will stir
up the cobwebs of anyones muse. And you  used all the good words to nudge the poetic wallflowers to dance.

Dear Arnie,

dance.gif

This is the happiest response I've ever received about this particular poem!

dance.gif

Reading this poem does lighten my step, especially mentally, when my muse wants to sit around accomplishing very little. I know we all need recesses and vacations>>>but you know how pushy you have to be sometimes when that muse tries to behave in a stubborn way while we are offering to assist in wonderful word weavings!

THANK YOU KINDLY FOR SUCH A HAPPY RESPONSE.
I'M GLAD THIS POEM HAS MET ITS PURPOSE!

Dear Orion

May I say (as a Compliment ! ) that much of this reminds me of Dr Zeuss - how do you spell that name ?

The Cat in the Hat's
"Poetry Primer",
and that's that !

Alan

Dear Alan,

I will accept your compliment gladly!  As I am a teacher of second graders, often the 'rhyming side of the poet-lady within' is Dr. Seuss-influenced. We often share Dr. Seuss and the likes in my classroom. It certainly allows the goofy, simplistic thoughts and ideas to fly free.

...and the shared smiles and giggles are certainly worth it!

Cheers to you,
Janet

Hi Janet     dance.gif

Well, if that doesn't stir the muse - nothing will  Speechless.gif  king.gif

It woke me out of an afternoon stupor, and that takes some doing, believe me!! LOL.gif

I am going to copy this to prod me whenever Madame Muse goes AWOL.
