Hi,

I noticed that someone referred to a crit they'd made at another poetry crit site. I understand why - it was a quick visit and made sense at the time.

However, if you have critted a poem - say at X site - which subsequently appears on MM, the only way to help the rest of us (who may not belong to X site - as I don’t in this case) is to re-post your crit here, please.

All poetry sites want to help their members as best as they can and to see a reference to a crit elsewhere doesn't enlighten most MM members. Also, of course, there is an etiquette about posting which helps us all.

I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't mention other crit sites - I often do. Many of us - me included - belong to other sites, too. That is not unhealthy - cross-fertilization of ideas is good - If I see things which would help MM I start yattering on about them here. For me, MM is easily my main site - the vast majority of what I do is here; for other members they may be 50/50 or they may work mainly elsewhere; no problem.

But when we do offer a crit we do need to let all members of this board see it. Sure, we could put a link in to the crit on the other board but that would be very unethical both to them and MM.

So, please, if you offer a crit, even if you've offered it elsewhere previously, do post it actually on the MM tile in question.

Thank you very much.

James.

Thank you James for posting this tile per my earlier request. cheer.gif

When I see a poem posted at various boards, MM included, I am hopeful that those who have critiqued their piece elsewhere (or vise-versa) will also offer their input to the piece here (or there) too.

For myself, not only it is enlightening in helping me to improve my own skills, it also lets our readers here see the crits who may not belong to the other boards, thus may not have an opportunity to really get an in-depth analysis.

I find sharing our viewpoints through the critique a positive step to refining our craft. I would love to see every post on MM receive a Wizard award for the sheer discussion regarding the pieces themselves. Since this is not a realistic goal, my next on the wish-list is to know that a work received a fair number of crits that served to help the writer improve their craft in some one, and in turn, helps the critiquer too.

So, this is simply a request to share your crits here with s too that you may have offered elsewhere so we can all benefit from the experiences provided.

Thank you very much. rainbow.gif

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.
