Septolet

The Septolet  consists of seven lines containing fourteen words written in two parts with a break in between them, each part dealing with the same thought… to create one picture (to a degree, somewhat like the concept of haiku/senryu — which contain two snapshots of aspects of the same reality).

Hi Daniel,

I love the simplicity of haiku, and this is wonderfully similar in essence. Thanks for introducing it and the examples. Each has an entirely differnt effect on the senses and ideas.

Thank you, Fran... I've just rediscovered this form myself and have not yet really gotten a feel for it, but I want to.  I hope you'll join me in the quest? Yesterday, amid working on a series of acrostics during this month, I wrote this one in the septolet format:

Hey, Larry...

you have an amazing talent for your double-acrostic poems. That takes a kind of mind-juggling I've yet to figure out. Maybe you could pass on to me some technique or trick you utilize to keep your mind focused on the end-product.

You've hit the mark for septoleting, methinks... so the ONLY suggestion I'd make is changing your title to

YEARS OF NOTHING

deLighting in your ingenuity, Daniel

My key: All I do is figure out what I want to and am able to say within the parameters and fill in the blank spaces left by finding just the right word for fit and meaning.
