Poetry… out’o Site
I don’t tweet, post to face-book or skype and believe social networking’s hype is for folks all alone in a world where technology’s king. Fear of personal contact will bring them to every time zone but no human to touch. Do they feel that the friends they have made are for real and should they really care if the hits on their posts lie there dead. Maybe talking to someone instead you’d have something to share. That’s the reason I’ll write on this site ‘till they turn out the lights, say good-night and the Mosaic’s done. When that time rolls around I’ll survive for I saved everything on hard drive but it has sure been fun.

Hi Larry, My own delay has not been due to social media, but because I've decided to come here less often. It feels very lonely to be here now. I've visited and joined a couple of other poetry websites, even though none have such beautiful domains as MM. And certainly nobody with knowledge about good sonnet writing, as you have... sad.
Your Loglimerhyme is a form I haven't met up with, so I'll check out Karnak.
You've written thoughts in your always stunning way. Nothing to nit, except some of the content.
I think too many people spend their lives tweeting, etc., and walk around looking at their cellphones, obsessed and addicted. On the other hand, in my case, I certainly use Skype to speak to my brother and his family in Britain. About twice a month.
Facebook has loads of rubbish, but there again I find real friends, who've moved to various countries and it's great to know how they're doing. As to my cellphone, I use it when I go out alone to town, so as to be able to call my daughter if something should happen to me. Not getting any younger! And Bariloche is not an accessible town, it's built on a hill and one has to walk up pavements full of steps. It's being fixed now with our new government, but it will take time.
As with most new things, it's what you use if for that matters. The greatest example being the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Twin Towers has been a ghastly thing, but it turned out that the jihadists or whoever only spent 150.000.- dollars to do that catastrophe.
I live alone with my cat now. My husband Carlos died two years ago. My first husband, father of my three children, died two months ago. And I lost two of my sons due to different causes, one aged 20 to ALS, the other, aged 21, to a traffic accident. My daughter is nearby but works most of the day. So at night, I enjoy viewing Netflix series and sometimes a movie on my computer. Netflix is cheap and is best known for its series. Some British ones by the BBC are fantastic. Sometimes I have supper with my daughter, or we go out to have coffee together.
My point is that there are a lot of people out there who are truly alone, so that a bit of social networking helps them a lot. I share info with people from many parts of the world who have Fibromyalgia, that's a good thing because one gets to know of new treatments sooner. I also share with poets, but don't post my own poems there.
OK, just venting a little. You'll be pleased to know that Lori has found a great job! She's starting at Dell corporation in a few days! I got that from FB... LOL. I do hope that when she's settled in, she'll remember MM, but methinks it will take her awhile, with all the festivities coming up. We don't celebrate Halloween in Argentina, nor Thanksgiving Day. We don't have anything to thank the Spanish conquerors for. Terrible genocide of indigenous peoples, who're still struggling to get education and some of their land back.
I agree with you totally. I'm wondering about Snow, must write again to see how she's doing. Always busy, but not with social networking!
That’s the reason I’ll write on this site ‘till they turn out the lights, say good-night and the Mosaic’s done. When that time rolls around I’ll survive for I saved everything on hard drive but it has sure been fun.
There you have my 2 cents, must rush now because I'm meeting Diana in town, to do a bit of shopping.
Don't abandon ship yet, Larry! Daniel has promised to return when he's finished moving. I see that you enjoy exchanging short poems! What I miss at MM are those in-depth critiques we used to have. You're the only one who troubles to scan sonnets and other forms, we need you!

Hi both,
I'm still here - with complications. Last week all 3 of us were sharing one computer, so I didn't bother much. Now Russell has had a new hard drive, which has made life easier. However, other things crop up to complicate life. I've 3 sick geckos - one that needs eye drops 10 times a day. Poor thing is fed up with me getting her out for this! Then at the weekend the oven stopped working. Thank goodness I'd just finished cooking a meal. It will be fixed tomorrow. The decorators are coming Monday to paper the hall, stairs and landing - also paint the kitchen. I'm so looking forward to getting this done, but it means clearing stuff out of the hall and making sure everything is clean for painting over.
I've never really left MM, just things to do - snakes need feeding tomorrow! We've spent a lot of time in the summer getting the garden in shape. I'm hoping that after Xmas I'll have more time. I will be back soon to do some critting, but tonight I feel to tired to think straight!
It's nearly a year since we had new members from TCP - where have they gone?
Eira/Snow

Here's a famous British video, Larry, which matches your thoughts on social media! It tells a life story that never happened. Even the end is positively encouraging. And it's a rhyming poem, to boot. Enjoy! Syl

I can't see where our stuff might be shown; maybe Facebook or on an I-phone but my phone is too dumb and besides, the technology stumps my old brain. It's had too many lumps. Come on, throw us a crumb

Hi everyone! I'm still very much here - every day - although I haven't posted in ages. Yes, the whole being laid off for 18 months (6 of which severance devilishly fooled me into not even looking at that time)! So, another 12 before landing my new job a few weeks ago. I think I went through the worst depression ever! I was depressed when social media came along and I noticed the old forum boards, like our MM, fading away. The ones I see at FB are more 'at a boy' oriented and not really too much on the critique side. I am getting settled into my new job now, and plan to spend some time at MM again. It's been too long. I DO enjoy reading what is posted, even if I don't comment. HUGS. ~Lori

Hi Daniel, Eira and Lori, Just popped in and feel so pleased that you've all turned up again. So sorry, Eira, about all your complications. I know how fond you are of your snakes and geckos. And having one's home overhauled is very tiring. Hang on there!
Daniel, I just saw your fantastic answer to one of the challenges I posted. I'll be reading it again and commenting, but not now cuz I'm really tired. Hope you keep 'em coming, Daniel. You're a very good poet, I envy you (almost as much as I envy Larry... LOL)
And Lori, what a surprise! As you see, I've been keeping our friends here up to date with your job-hunting, plus some of your other troubles. I do hope you settle in nicely and enjoy your new work. And return to MM, we need you!
Best to all, Syl
