The time has gone, my heart’s grown cold,
I miss your love and stories told,
your smiling face, like golden dawn,
my heart’s grown cold, the time has gone.

Our talks at night, your gentle voice
to spill my soul, your ears, my choice,
dear dad, your laughter made things right,
your gentle voice, our talks at night.

How deep the ache through tearful eyes,
to know you’ve left, can’t share our ties,
a plan from God, your soul to take,
through tearful eyes, how deep the ache.

For all my life, I will believe
your presence guides me, yet I grieve
for you to be here; end my strife,
I will believe, for all my life.

October 2, 2000
I love and miss you Dad....

Hi Lindi,

You already know how much I adore this poem and am proud to have it included in our upcoming Swap Quatrain collection. It is the raw emotion, the openess, longing and love that makes this one linger - so poignant, one can sense its straight from the heart - the best kind of poems to have read.

Hard to believe 8 years now? Wow.

Hello Ms. Lori,

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment so kindly. Thanks to you and your famous "Swap Quatrain", this poem came fairly easily.

No, I can't believe it is 8 years either. Eight long years that I haven't had a conversation with my Dad. How deeply I long to hear his voice again. sad.gif

I hope you and Peter are having a blast too!

Take care.

I found this to be a deeply emotive write. I lost someone dear to me eight years ago and could relate. The structure is well polished and easy to read. Very well penned.

Hi Lindi

I've just called by to say how much I've enjoyed reading your SQ (very well written)
My Dad died 5 years ago and I feel much the way you do, longing for all the things we talked about - just to hear his voice. It was kind of comforting to know someone else out there is feeling just the same.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Merle,

I apologize for just getting back to you. I didn't receive a notice and will have to fix that.

I am sorry for your loss and understand how you feel. It was 9 long years ago yesterday, (October 2) that I lost my dad.
I miss him so. :(

It is part of life, but still so very hard.

Blessings,
Lindi

Hi Snow,

Thank you very very much for your comments. I am very late in replying, but appreciate your kind words.

I am deeply sorry for your loss too. It is hard to believe that I haven't spoken to my dad in 9 years, but thank God for my religious belief. When times are especially hard, it helps!

Blessings,
Lindi
