Hello all.

I was happy to stumble upon this site. I did so by reading a recommendation on another poetry site that I have enjoyed reading. That poetry site is now closing down.

My name's Delainie. It's a bit of a mouthful though, so Dee will do. I am 41, female and live in Sydney, Australia.

I like reading and writing poetry. I enjoy reading original and/or weird poetry.

Thanks, it's been nice to introduce myself & I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Dee,

Well I'm very pleased to see you here - Welcome to Mosaic Musings.

I am presuming it was The Critical Poet you saw our name mentioned. We are hoping that some of the great poets from there will join us soon.

Your username sounds familiar to me - have you posted at any other sites?

I have a school friend who emigrated to Australia when she was 20yrs (over 40yrs ago) She has been very happy there, got married had children & grandchildren.

Have a look around and you'll soon feel at home.

Eira

Hiya,

Yup, I've been on other forums but none active with this username.

Australia is a beautiful place to live. Does your friend enjoy living here?

I believe the hardest adjustment, for some Brits who emmigrate, is the climate. In summer the heat can get quite oppressive. It's a 24 hour heat and even in the middle of the night it can be uncomfortably humid.

On the plus side: Night swimming!!

Thanks for the nice welcome. I am still finding my way around the site.

Cheers Eisa.

Hi again Dee,

One of our Staff members, Arnfinn, is from Australia - I'll see if I can contact him to come & have a chat with you.

Hello Dee and WELCOME TO MM! Newbie.gif PartyFavor.gif Balloons.gif

It's a shame to hear about other forums closing, but I do think it's a sign of the times - as cliche as that sounds. I hope you'll find your new poetry home here, although I must make it a point to send an email to the membership as its been a long while. I think I may also post the announcement for our annual holiday classic today as well. Snowman.gif

We have a few Australians here: Arnfinn (John - a staff member) and Maureen. claps.gif

I like reading all sorts of poetry and prose as well - weird or not - it's all interpretation (unless a fixed form where the requirements were not achieved). LOL.gif

We offer honest, yet friendly feedback in our workshopping forums so I do hope you'll find yourself at home here, once you settle into your own groove-thing and start interacting (we don't bite). odie.gif There are many members here with different skill levels and technique, which makes MM more comfortable, diverse and challenging if you become so inclined in your poetic journey. sings.gif cheer.gif

Please, wander our halls, take in our colorful 'tiles' and join in the fun. hsdance.gif Idea.gif We used to have a more defined division for level of critique desired (if any), but we've changed that beginning from July, 2013. So now, whne you post a topic for comments, please post a tag line either in the title description (or in the beginning of your thread) stating your desired level of critique. That can be done by simply using a series of stars for light (*), medium (**), or full (***) critique. We also have something called the 1:2:2 rule, which we do not worry about as strictly these days: Each member may post a new work every two days (no more than that, please) providing they then post two critiques of others' works in the same forum. In other words, Post today, not tomorrow (in same forum). You may post one new topic every two days provided you comment on the works of two fellow members (within the same forum).

Each forum has its own 'forum participation rules' posted in a link at the top of the forums, so please have a read of them: http://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=8574 .

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or any of our staff (AMETHYST, Arnfinn, Eisa, JLY, Psyche and Imhotep). rose.gif margarita.gif mm.gif mm.gif

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.

Hello Dee and welcome to MM!! butterfly.gif

Great to meet another S.H. poet. I live in Argentina. Been here since 2004, because I like MM and because I have few people to speak English to at home.
I get a lot of help here with terms and word usage, as well as idiomatic expressions. thumbsup.gif

Our climate can be similar to Australia's. You've mentioned hot and humid in another post. With climate change, our temperatures are rising anually, such a shame. Can be well over 40ºC in our northern provinces. upside.gif

But Argentina is a 'long' country, so the climate is OK where I live now, in Argentine Patagonia. Trouble is, all the rain has gone away these summers, so that forest fires are a danger. oops.gif

I'll check to see whether you've posted already. I'm a bit slow. Hope to see your poems soon!

Cheers,
