No Time

Now's the time left for lunch
no time for that social bunch.
I got no time left today,
no time for me to say...

no time
no time

I've got no time for my friends,
no time left to spend
no time for good byes
no time for telling lies.

no time
no time

I got no time left to live
no time for me to give
I've given away all my time
I'm just waiting for the last line.

no time
no time

There it's said
now it's time for bed,
no time left to lose
now it's time for me to snooze...

no time

no

time.

ohsteve;

Just recently attended my father in laws funeral. Your poem would have been so appropriate at the viewing. It was the theme most repeated by all the family. The only time we all see each other nowadays is at funerals. Other than that we have 'no time'. Your poem seems almost written just for me. I have no improvements to suggest.

Sam, sorry about your loss, yes it seems the greater the family the less time there is to be together. I am glad this provided you some comfort. Thanks for reading and the kind words.

Good morning Steve - 'No time.' you say; but what is time?
I have reached the stage when I find that I have more friends in the graveyards than on the streets; (four funerals in the last six months) so I, too, am becoming very aware of the amazing shortness of time.
We have, many of us, lived long enough to look back on those long, long, never-ending days of our youth; when an hour in detention felt like a whole winter's day.
Now, as we age, time moves up into fifth gear, and the scenery flashes past, leaving only a blur on the retina of our mind's eye.
I often wonder what happened to the last twenty years. Just a few high points standing out above the flooded lake of my memory.
Time is a remarkably flexible concept, which can be stretched almost to infinity, by using every day to the full.
There is a strong impression of regret and, 'time wasted or squandered' in your moving verses; so it is vital that from now on, every day must be made to be precious.

It seems to me that the time has arrived for you to become totally and utterly selfish.
Don't do a thing, unless it brings you a degree pleasure.
Invite a few of those good old friends or family members for whom you find you have, 'no time' - to share your lunch with you - (killing two birds with one stone) and, together, remember the big and little events of your lives, and laugh or cry together.
Gently, stretch the days, by filling them with things that please you - good books - good music - good people.
But, Steve dear, please don't snooze away those precious, infinitely stretchable days.
Please forgive the lecture, but your verses seem to merit a reply - and I could not crit the poetry.
Free verse 'ain't my area of competence.
Hugs, Leo XX

Leo, not to worry the lecture was taken with the care I know you have. I am taking the pleasure of every day as best I can, holding on to those hours as tightly as possible. My daughter took me out the other day, as I felt kind of queasy I said lets just go to a couple of local places. We went up to Visit my wife where she works and she was just sitting down to lunch, well with in five minutes, my namesake grand son had the whole lunch area of McDonald's in stitches. He was making his scary face where he just scrunches up his face, grits his teeth and makes a grrr sound, he was of course flirting with all the ladies, then he started with this what we now call his Elvis face curling up the one side of his top lip. I was laughing so hard I was almost on the floor, quite a few said they had to leave before they wet themselves with laughter. Of course as we meandered thru the store he was being very vocal and waving his hands and arms about, just as though he was telling everybody off. I wish I had a movie camera just to show how funny he can be.
I hope that you too are taking every moment you can to enjoy and build some memories of these times too.

Take care Steve

-Another one... gone. A second: come back you fool . I need you.

Damn it! One second = creation ( a life of losing time) and death ( an existance belonging to time).

A thinking mans poem, mate. detective.gif ghostface.gif

I'd write some more. But, I've run out of time.
