Odin’s Opposition ~ Terms of Service

Welcome to the Mosaic Musings ‘Odin’s Opposition’ Contest! This contest is open to all writers over the age of 18 worldwide. The entry fee is $5.00 (U.S. funds) per entry (plus a handling fee of $1.50), will be paid through PayPal (by clicking the ‘Enter Contest” button). You do NOT have to be a member of PayPal to use this button. You can also pay by postal mail. Entries can be written on any subject, in poem, prose or short story format, and can be of any length. Entries are limited to 1 per writer per battle (if guest to MM); otherwise entries are limited to 2 per battle (for our members only). Entries must be the original work of the writer. Previously published works are not eligible unless posted on message forums, your own website or self-published books. Previous winning entries of past ‘Odin’s Opposition’ battles are also not eligible to post in subsequent contests. A new contest will run quarterly, or as soon as (40) entries have been received, judged and announced. Winning entries will be posted in the ‘Grendel’s Gala’ forum, where an electronic copy of the entries will be displayed with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Merit designation.  

Eligibility:

1. Odin’s Opposition contests are open to all writers over the age of 18 worldwide.
2. Entries must be the original work of the writer.
3. Previously published works are not eligible unless posted on message forums, your own website or self-published books.
4. Previous winning entries of past ‘Odin’s Opposition’ battles are not eligible for resubmission in subsequent contests.
5. Entries must be written and submitted in English.
6. Only (1) entry per contest is permitted for guests of Mosaic Musings, or (2) entries per contest for members of Mosaic Musings.
7. Payment for entries must be received and validated prior to judging.
8. The Entry fee of $5.00 (per entry) must be paid in U.S. funds. Accepted payment types are: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and eCheck (processed through PayPal), personal check or money order (if sent by mail).
9. All cash awards are guaranteed by Mosaic Musings.

Requirements & Rights:

1. Entrant’s posts must comply with all aspects of Mosaic Musings Terms of Use and Privacy Policy located in the Site and at the Home page, http://www.mosaicmusings.net.
2. All works posted on the Site are submitted on a voluntary basis.  
3. All exclusive rights are reserved by the respective copyright owners and no redistribution including publication or reproduction in any form is permitted without express permission of the copyright owner. All posts remain the property of the author.
4. Entrants allow Mosaic Musings to display and archive such works within Site, and if applicable, allows members and guests to comment on such works.
5. Entrants will not post, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, obscene, abusive, tortuous, defamatory, libelous, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
6. Mosaic Musings is not liable for any loss or damage arising from entrant’s failure to comply with the Terms of Use located at http://www.mosaicmusings.net/policies.htm .

Prizes:

1st Place: $100.00 and an electronic display with award graphic on Mosaic Musings.

2nd Place: $50.00 and an electronic display with award graphic on Mosaic Musings.

3rd Place: $25.00 and an electronic display with award graphic on Mosaic Musings.

Merit: (2) winners - an electronic display with award graphic on Mosaic Musings.

Submission and Fees:

1. The entry fee of $5.00 (plus a handling fee of $1.50) must be paid in U.S. funds online (with PayPal) by credit card or eCheck; check or money order (by mail). Foreign currencies are not permitted. Payments should be made payable to: Mosaic Musings, LLC
2. All online entries must contain a title, author’s name, content and email address.
3. You will be sent an email confirmation once payment has been processed.
4. Mail entries must include title, content, author’s name, address and phone number and should be forwarded to:
     Mosaic Musings, LLC
     P.O. Box 39
     Stow, MA 01775
5. There is a limit of (1) entry per contest per guest, or (2) entries per contest per member.
6. Entries will not be returned.
7. If any entries are missing information, we will make every attempt to contact the entrant, but if unsuccessful, the entry will be disqualified.
8. All transactions are final and cannot be modified once posted to the contest forum.
9. All entry fees are non-refundable.
10. Once you have made payment, you will be re-directed back to our forum home page. Go to:> Mosaic Musings » For the Competitive You (Challenges and Recognition) » Odin’s Opposition (Contests for Cash Awards)  and post your entry as a ‘New Topic’. Once payment has been verified, your entry will be made viewable in the forum.
11. All entries to ‘Odin’s Opposition’ will be READ ONLY.
12. Entries may be any length.

Contest Deadlines:

1. Contents will be accessible by guests and members real time, whenever possible. With the exception of mail entries, once (40) entries are submitted and posted to the forum, ‘Odin’s Opposition’, the contest will close for judging.
2. Any entries placed during this transition will be automatically posted to the next contest.

Judges:

1. Each Contest is judged by a rotation of Mosaic Musings Staff members.  In addition, we may, from time to time, seek the input from guest writers who are highly recommended from other boards.
2. There will be a minimum of five judges per contest.
3. The judges will look at the following characteristics for determining the top (5) placing entries:
     a. Artistic Quality
     b. Uniqueness
     c. Content
     d. Structure
     e. Interpretation
4. All decisions of the judges are final.
5. Judging will take place within 14 days following the closing of the contest. Please allow an additional 14 days (minimum) for the announced winners to be notified.

Notification:

1. All prize winners will be notified by email and mail.
2. The top five winning entries will be posted on the Mosaic Musings site in the forum, “Grendel’s Gala” and will include the designated award graphic.
3. Non-winners will not be notified of contest results.
4. All non –winning entries will be archived in a private ‘Staff only’ forum.
